“Great location, very nice rooms, very good service, busy hotel.”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

Location just off Michigan can't be beat. Close to great restaurants and shopping. Rooms are as nice as anywhere (Ritz, Four Seasons etc.) although more high tech. Every light can be controlled by a master control for brightness, mood etc. There is a temperature reading by the door that tells outside temp - very useful in Chicago. Great sound system that plays throughout entire room and bath. Bed is tops. Bath and shower - as good as it gets. TV in bath. Service is very good all around. Maids fold any clothing left out, have shoes shinned, coil up lose cords from cell phone, computers etc. Lots of nice personal touches. No real negatives. Like many city hotels the lobby is up a floor and a little inconvenient. Very active hotel with parties, banquets etc... If you like slow and quite a boutique hotel might appeal to you more.

Room Tip: Higher floors have the views but elevator wait time can be long.

We stay there at least once a year. Again they prove in all ways large and small that they are the greatest hotel in Chicago.

Hands down, this hotel delivers "perfect" stays more consistently than any other city hotel in a major market in the country. When your room door closes behind you, you feel completely secure and "in residence". Great spa, awesome gym with a commanding view. Flat screen TVs, iPod docs with advanced audio visual. Friendly staff eager to anticipate and serve your needs.Terrific bar, also a decent place to eat if you are dining alone.

Room Tip: The Exec Suite is, architecturally and ergonomically, the best hotel room I have ever stayed in.

I cannot say enough how much I like Peninsula Chicago - all the staff are great. The room was wonderful. Yes, the bathroom itself is another treat. You can listen to music or watch tv while you are enjoying a nice long bath in the tub. Complimentary coffee and tea every morning at the lobby or the health club are of excellent quality, as you expected. The breakfast the the "Lobby" always great - spacious seating with amazing sunslight coming through the window. Food at Shanghai Terrace was delicious and I did not need to go to Chinatown (unless you want Dim Sum or other special dishes). Hotel location was perfect for shopping, meeting, and sightseeing as well.

I often travel to Chicago from NYC for business and without a doubt, my hotel of choice is the Peninsula. I've tried several other comparable hotels such as the Trump Hotel and I still find myself going back to the Peninsula. Service is fantastic, exactly what you would expect from a Peninsula. Rooms are great, and I often get upgraded now to very large suites which are fantastic. Location is convenient. Nothing to complain about at all. The fact that the Peninsula is not ranked #1 on this list is a crime!

My stay at the Peninsula was wonderful. The location was perfect and I was pleasantly surprised by the 60 degree November weather which was great for walking around the city! I wasn't able to take advantage of all of the amenities at the hotel since I was working, but the rooms were comfortable and spotless. The bathroom was amazing. Only complaint is that the service is too good; I do not like that the room attendant found my dirty laundry and folded it nor did I like finding my toothbrush in a different place. I would highly recommend this hotel.
