“Excellent amenities and location”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

The Embassy Suites Lakefront was close to perfect. Its location couldn't have been better for downtown attractions. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We didn't take advantage of the manager's reception but did partake in the breakfast. With the exception of the scrambled eggs, everything was very good. The made to order line was very long so we stuck to the rest of the buffet. The only knock on this hotel was having to pay for wifi. In this day and age it seems a little ridiculous to have to pay $13.75 for internet access. Despite that we will definitely stay here the next time we visit Chicago.

This Embassy Suites is great. My wife, son (4), daughter (1) and I stayed here for a few nights.

The hotel is great. We had a room on the top floor. The hotel rooms are all located on the outside wall of the hotel and there is a gigantic, towering opening in the middle that lets you see all the way down to the lobby floor. There are a pair of glass elevators on one side that are open to Chicago. The kids loved riding the elevators.

Like all E.S. rooms, it had a separate bedroom and living space. Plenty of space for the four of us. The rooms were clean and well kept.

There is a complimentary breakfast which is held on the lobby floor in a sectioned off area for it.

There is also a smallish, indoor pool located on the lobby floor. The kids like that they pool lighting changed colors. We often pick hotels for indoor pools, and this one was sufficient for my young kids. I could see how it might get crowded fast during very busy times of the year.

Parking, like all downtown parking, was pricing. There is an attached lot that is connected to the hotel by the first floor. You take a set of elevators to the first floor, but then change elevators and took a second one to the sky lobby. It's quite the journey from car to hotel room (3 total elevators).

We spent a long weekend in Chicago over spring break with 4 families in 4 rooms. Our stay at this hotel was incredible. From the moment we arrived every employee that we interacted with was friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic. We were greeted each morning at breakfast by Shirley who remembered us and welcomed us back! The staff in the dining area chatted with our kids and made it a fun start to each day. The views from all of our rooms was beautiful. We will definitely stay at this Embassy Suites next time we visit Chicago!

Room Tip: The corner suites have a larger living room area which was nice for our large group, but all of our...

Our experience at Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown Lakefront was very close to perfect. We stayed three nights in late March, 2013. First, the price was amazingly reasonable considering the downtown Chicago location and all the amenities this property furnished. We took advantage of almost all of them, including an excellent free hot breakfast all three day's, the manager's reception one night, the pool, hot tub and sauna, the business center, room service, gift shop and the concierge services. The lines for the breakfast and free drinks/appetizers in the evening can get long at peak periods, but if you go early or late to either, you can get served very quickly. The suites were large, clean and comfortable, although ours was showing its age just a bit. The beds were comfortable. Towels and pillows were of good quality and plentiful. The view from the 17th floor was tremendous. Everyone, and I mean everyone, at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, from the front desk staff to the wait staff and the doormen. That's exceeding rare these days, but these folks knocked service out of the park. Check-in and check-out couldn't have been easier. Finally the location was terrific. The horel made it was extremely easy to grab a cab and there were tons of things within easy walking distance, including a great grocery store just across the street, a movier theater and bowling alley next door, and several good restaurants. Michigan Avenue shopping and the Navy Pier are both 15 minute walks away. Great choice for families visiting Chicago. The only downside was the %15 per day fee to use the Internet, and I heard parking at the hotel is expensive. Still, fabulous place. I know we will be back.

Room Tip: I'd say the higher the better. Both city views and lake views should be excellent if you can boo...

The suites are fantastic for traveling with a group. Lots of room to stretch out.
Breakfast was much better than the evening reception. Many hot and cold choices at the breakfast. Reception was a disappointment food-wise. Get to either early, or be prepared to wait in a long line.
Our room was very clean and well maintained.
Fast check in was very nice.
Could hear quite a bit of street noise even way up on the 16th floor, but the beds and pillows were super comfy, so I slept just fine anyway.
Location is great for catching bus or trolley or for just walking to many attractions.

Conveniently located close to Michigan Ave and Navy Pier. You can walk or take public transportation to anywhere you want to go. Very clean hotel. Good managers reception in the evening and terrific breakfast buffet. They provide a large selection of breakfast food. This is an especially nice hotel for families visiting Chicago.

We stayed at this property over St. Patrick's Day weekend and had a great time. The location was fabulous being one block from the dying of the Chicago River. The free breakfast and manager's reception in the evening were very good. When I originally looked at the hotel, the price was $330 per night. After a couple of days the rate had dropped to $105 per night :-) The fact that each room is a suite with a separate living room, made staying here for four nights with two kids, quite bearable. The beds were comfortable, but the bathroom in room 1506 could use a little deep cleaning (some mildew/mold in the tile grout). The front desk staff were friendly without being overbearing and the bar staff were great! The indoor was a treat for my kids and the only other real negative I can think of is the ridiculous fees for parking ($36-$54 for self park and valet). Although these fees are exorbitant, they are to be expected in Chicago. Nice property and we will definitely come again.
