Dear Guest -

Thanks you for your posting on TripAdvisor and the wonderful feedback on Chicago as well as the hotel.

We were thrilled to hear that you had a great experience in the Windy City. Chicago is a beautiful city where we celebrate our architectural and social heritage, our shopping, our museums, our plethora of amazing restaurants and our cultural diversity. Chicago is truly a world-class city that offers so much to natives and visitors alike.

I am also delighted that you enjoyed our daily Manager's Reception at the hotel. This venue lends itself as a great opportunity to unwind from the long business meeting or a day out on the town.

Thank you again for your comments and we hope to see you soon in Chi Town!

Cordially,

Syed E. Hasan
General Manager

I've actually stayed here several times over the past few years, and for two or three nights at a stay, so this is based on all my stays, not just one. While I would be willing to stay here again if the price were right, there are both good points and bad points. It's lovely having a two room suite; even with only two people the extra room is nice for spreading out, and in case one of the two wakes up before the other (waves hello!) the early riser can sneak out into the other room. The hot breakfast is great, in particular the made to order omelettes.

The staff are coolly professional, polite as might be expected. I have no complaints there whatsoever!

However, the sound insulation between suites and between the suites and the walkways sucks. Badly. My dislike of heights is NOT the hotel's fault, but the open interior design, while roomier in appearance, means that sound carries up from the lobby/dining area and across from other floors like whoa.

A few caveats: I don't drive to Chicago, so parking fees are irrelevant. I have no children, so the depth of the pool isn't so important.

Room Tip: Corner suites are a bit quieter, being separated from neighboring rooms a bit more. Also both rooms in the corner suites have exterior windows.

My family and I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites Lakefront in Chicago. The location is excellent, right downtown close to Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier, the Chicago river. Within walking distance to the Art Institute as well. The rooms were nice, the room we stayed in had two queen sized beds and a pullout couch. There was a good view of the city which is always a plus. One issue is that our room had a significant musty smell, until the second day after they cleaned the room. It seemed to dissipate after that. The breakfast in the lobby was a great feature. There was a buffet, cooked-to-order omelets, and a continental breakfast area. It was included in the price and definitely convenient.

Just had a brief overnight stay. The hotel location is near everything downtown & staff very polite & professional. They also go the extra effort. It was my wife's birthday. She wanted a chocolate doughnut, but, by the time we came down for breakfast they were out. The restaurant manager located and heated a chocolate brownie, brought matches & a candle as a treat since they were out of doughnuts. This kind of gesture makes you a loyal customer. Thank you!

We spent a few nights at this Embassy Suites while on vacation. The location at the corner of Columbus and Illinois is great -- easy access to Lakeshore Drive, within walking distance of Navy Pier and the riverwalk, very close to a stop on the double-decker city tours, etc. There's food, movie theaters, and more easily accessible.

The evening reception is a cut above your average Embassy suites. There was some selection available on wines, instead of the just one red and one white. The snacks were substantial and were refreshed with new choices as the evening wore on.

We ended up with a corner room, which is somewhat larger than an average room, and had a lake view. That was cool. Unfortunately the sound insulation leaves a bit to be desired. We could easily hear the guest in the next room coughing and clearing his throat. Fortunately he didn't turn the TV on.

You can either valet park (more expensive, but have in-and-out priveleges) or self park (cheaper, no in-and-out). We valet parked, and had a long delay while getting our car when going out to do some sightseeing. It turned out the first guy they sent didn't know how to drive a stick-shift, so he had to come back on foot and get someone else. When they finally did deliver the car they appeared to have driven it with the parking brake still partially on, resulting in a strong smell of cooked brakes. Because the wait had been so long they took one night's valet charge off the bill, so at least they did try to make up for the issue.

Oh, and taxi cabs regularly circulate through the hotel guest drop-off/pick-up point so catching a cab is easy.

We'll probably stay here again the next time we visit Chicago.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side have a lake view, while those facing south have a good view of the skyscrapers across the river. Corner rooms are larger than average.

Dear Guest -

Thank you very much for your detailed posting on TripAdvisor. Your positive comments about our location, the suite and amenities and the evening reception are all wonderful and greatly appreciated. We have recently hired a new team leader for our complimentary services and he is doing a great job of improving our product, our service delivery and service attitude attributes.

I apologize for the noise you were able to hear from the adjacent room. Quite candidly, we do hear occasionally about permeating noise and we try our best to alleviate the problem and accommodate the guest complaint.

I am also sorry to hear of the delay you experienced in retrieving your car from our valet department. This concerns me and I am scheduling a meeting with our partners who manage our valet parking operation for us. I assure you we will investigate this incident and insist on more training for positive improvements.

Thank you again for the wonderful feedback. Our team is dedicated to listening to the voice of the customer and making appropriate changes to improve the guest experiences.

We hope to serve you soon but in the interim, please stay well and safe travels!

Respectfully,

Syed E. Hasan
General Manager
