I recently stayed at this hotel while on business and while the location is very good the hotel left much to be desired for the price. The room that I stayed in smelled like cigarette smoke and the decor was outdated. The TV in the front room had sound but no picture and there was a used dry cleaning plastic bag crumpled up on the floor of the closet. With so many choices downtown, I would recommend steering away from this one.

I would recommend his hotel as a great place for downtown Chicago. It is a very short walk to Navy Pier. You can also walk a block and then get on a boat for the Architecture River Cruise. We also walked 2 blocks and ate lunch on the river. There is a burger place with great frozen drinks like Daquiris, Rum Punch, or frozen Lemonade. There is also an irish pub on the river close too. Embassy also has a PJ Clarkes restauarant inside but I did not care for their food.
And of course the Embassy always has a free happy hour and cooked to order breakfast.
We also walked to Millenium Park and Grant Park from here and it was not too far.

Stayed here for four nights from September 3 -7, 2012 for our first visit to Chicago. We were very pleased with the hotel and the location was great. Everything was within walking distance. We had a corner room on the 9th floor and it was clean, bright and modern. I don't understand other comments that the rooms were dark and dated, unless the hotel is under renovation, which I saw no indication of. The breakfast was good and the cocktails in the evening were great (thought I do have to say a few of the nights, the snacks at the evening cocktails were definitely a bit on the cheap side e.g.: stale popcorn). For those who complained that the lines at breakfast and evening cocktails were long -- this should be expected when there is free food and booze. The line for evening cocktails moved fairly quickly, but if you wanted the fresh-made omelette in the morning, it did take a while. The only thing that really annoyed me was the fact that WiFi cost $15 per day. We did not bother to get it, even though we brought a laptop, but in this day and age no hotel should charge for WiFi. Overall a great hotel and would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone travelling to Chicago.

The room was spacious and clean, breakfast was phenomenal, and the staff were the friendliest we've ever dealt with. Hats off to restaurant manager Vadym for the incredible service. Location for navy pier and Michigan avenue is ideal

Stayed here with our family of 5 - kids 13, 11 and 8 for 5 days, beginning Aug. 25. Good base for exploring. Short walk to the Navy Pier and a nice beach, plenty of restaurants and shopping close by, a market right across the street. The walk to the L was a little longer than expected but not bad. Took the L to White Sox game, Cubs game and the aquarium. The city was not crowded during this week so it was a great time to visit. The hotel was clean and the room was large enough for our family of 5, but we wished the beds were queens and not doubles. Not much of a view from our room or any others that I could see. Breakfast on Sunday morning was a cattle call, which was expected, but the rest of the time it was fine. Very good omelets. Front desk staff was very nice. Chicago was great, and we would stay here again.
