“Love the Salmon and Ribs”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Son moved to the neighborhood not long ago and wanted to try out this restaurant. Very family oriented, very nice children's menu with good selections. I always have the grilled Salmon and my husband tried the ribs which he said were very good. Parking is a little tight on the street and can be a little difficult to get to because of the intersection of many streets. Would help to have a GPS. Another great restaurant a few doors down but not suitable for children unless they have esoteric tastes. Try it out, I think you will like it.

“Unpretentious and appealing”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Eating out doesn't necessarily have to be defined by fine dining with menu items you can't pronounce and entrees that look like mini-sculptures. Sometimes, you're just hungry. Dunlays on the Square is a relative newcomer in Chicago's upswinging Logan Square neighborhood. It's attractive without making you wonder if you're dressed appropriately. The staff is friendly without being phony. And the food is on the upper end of the comfort food scale. Oh, and the price is right. This place doesn't aim to be anything more than a spot where folks in the neighborhood can hang out with friends, bring their families, or just fill their bellies. It works.

“Excellent brunch!”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

This is an excellent place to have brunch. I kept it simple and chose two eggs, sausage, hash-browns and orange juice. It was great! Although the restaurant was crowded with folks who were attending the farmer’s market, service was courteous and prompt.

“Excellent Service, Excellent Food, Excellent Prices.....Amazing Bloody Mary's”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

Two thumbs up for Dunlay’s! I went to Dunlay's on the Square for the first time with my husband’s family for a late brunch on a Saturday afternoon and was blown away.
We had excellent service. After we sat down we were immediately greeted by our waitress and told about their weekend drink and brunch specials, a couple of their brunch specials included a bottomless mimosa brunch and there signature smoke daddy bloody mary.
My husband and I are suckers for a good bloody mary so we both decided to give Dunlay's bloody mary a shot...we were not disappointed! There bloody mary mix is homemade and garnished with fresh mozzarella cheese, a cherry tomato, salami, pickles and olives it's like a mini antipasto salad! It also includes a side car of Guinness. To top it all off the price was right....$7.50 for a quality bloody mary. They were so good we ordered another round.
The brunch menu featured your “typical” breakfast/brunch menu items but with a twist....oatmeal pancakes, French toast dipped in orange liquor , gourmet omelets and more! I ordered the Palmer square Omelet, which had goat cheese, asparagus, red peppers and artichokes... it was delicious! My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich from the lunch menu… it was excellent too. All of the dishes had very generous portions.
The atmosphere is nice but casual. The restaurant is large and has a great open floor plan and a lot of natural light. They have a big bar area and lots of seating.
There menu is priced right! The majority of the brunch menu items were less than $10. One thing to keep in mind is parking. I didn’t see a parking lot for the restaurant, but there is off street parking (meters) so make sure you bring your quarters. I would definitely recommend Dunlay's! Overall an excellent dining experience!

“Good local spot for casual meal”
Reviewed September 24, 2011

Our daughter took us to this local restaurant for dinner. Not expecting anything more than bar food, we were happily surprised by the quality and value of the meal. We shared a pizza, veggie burger and fish dish - all were well-prepared and generous portions. We went back the next night since the place we had hoped to go to was closed for a private function. We were not at all sorry to return. Excellent mixed drinks.
