My family is working our way through all the top-rated Chicago pizza places. Lou Malnati's is excellent. We drove over and did a take out of their large deep dish "Malnati Chicago Classic." It's distinctive. The most ripe-tomato-flavored pizza I've ever had. This means that they back off from the spices that give a zestier tang to Giardanos. But it's good in a fresh-garden way. It feels odd to say this about pizza, but it tasted "healthy." And the high-pinched buttercrust toasts better than the round slabs of crust that encircle most pizzas. And they were generous with the cheese. For the five members of our family, It didn't dislodge anyone's top pick, (Pequod, Giardanos, or L'Aventino Forno Romano), but it is so good in its own way that we are definitely coming back. And the ambiance at the Ohio St. branch is cool. They have milling machinery hanging on the walls and from the ceiling. Gives an artisan feel. Parking was easy. And the waitresses were friendly as we talked, waiting for our meal.
