I am a big fan of W’s. Nice location, special vibe in the historic lobby, excellent service, but don’t stay in the rooms too long...they are tiny even after a size upgrade. Bath rooms also resemble an airplane bathroom..size wise.

I can’t say enough about how upbeat and friendly the entire staff was. I felt like I was at Disney world with energy and genuine interest that every need is attended to. The morning coffee was so good. The afternoon champagne, what a treat!
A special acknowledgement to the W Insider, DeJuan Evans. What a gem! A wealth of information,enthusiasm and a sweet smile. We were so impressed.
The rooms were clean and adequate (didn’t spend much time in the room). I must say it was kind of loud. We could hear entire conversations in rooms close to us.
The lobby was fabulous and quite comfortable too.

The room itself was very clean, modern, and neat. Wifi worked well too! Checking out was a breeze. Note that there are two entrances to the hotel. I first walked through the entrance that opens into the the hotel's lounge, which you have to walk through in order to reach the front desk.
The bed was king-sized, but we booked one of the regular-sized rooms so it felt a bit cramped. We expected that when we booked the room, as we did not expect to spend much time in the hotel (i.e., it was simply a place for us to rest at the end of the day!).
Staff was friendly enough, but we had very few interactions with them (i.e., only during check-in).
Other notes:
1) I downloaded the Marriott Bonvoy app and requested extra towels and pillows for our room before our arrival date. However, the request wasn't fulfilled prior to arrival.
2) The app also allows for a virtual roomkey, which works via bluetooth. I never got around to using it, but it seemed like a neat feature!
3) The hotel elevators are a bit slow and fill up fast.

The hotel lobby and bar area are very cool, swanky, chic and exciting. Following that, the hotel elevators, hallways and rooms have little to be excited about. My wife and I were looking forward to a weekend away and chose the W based on location, price and brand name. For a Marriott, the W City Center is quite disappointing. The rooms are outdated and felt more like an old college dorm than a Marriott brand hotel. Unfortunately, the bed was not comfortable and neither of us slept well during our stay. I very much wish I could provide a better review of our stay because I have always trusted Marriott. After this stay, we will no longer be choosing the W for future trips and will instead opt for other brands.

The current design narrative of our guestrooms and public spaces speak to the minimalist lifestyle that has become more popular in recent years, while paying homage to our property and neighborhood's storied past, with its vintage touches and accents. I'm sorry your guestroom's setup did not fit your taste and apologize for any discomfort felt. I hope that on your next Chicagoland getaway you'd allow us to make a better impression. We do have various different room types and, on our uniquely structured property, no two guestrooms are the same, each room differs from others. Fantastic hotel. Has a great atmosphere. Bed was great and the entire stay was outstanding from check in to check out. I know it's silly but i fell in love with their Bliss products. I was hoping to buy the face wash, however Bliss informed me that formula at W is no longer in production. Which is a bummer so if W wants to send me some I would really love it! <3
