Spacious Rooms and Hotel Bar Delight for Corporate Event

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 16, 2019
The W Chicago City Center provided an excellent stay for our association's members and partners. Guests enjoyed the spacious rooms and bar in the lobby. From an organizing standpoint, the team at the W made the entire process as easy as could be. In particular Vicki Stanton was very quick to adjust our room block with updates to guest's stays up to the week before our stay. All in all this is an excellent option for groups staying in the heart of Chicago.

This was the worst place I have ever visited. Nice looking elegant small room hotel. No pool.No Refrigerator. Tub paint peeling. Big Orange NASTY stains on Mattress! I will never go here AGAIN. Overcharged!!!Was told my room was $397 had a charge for $473.20 then the next day a $200 hold I was never told! Terrible experience. Was offered points to compensate the bad experience. Bad service.Room and Bathroom was small!! As much money as they charge this should of been a great place. The mattress did it for me!!!!!! Disgusting to the max. There wasn’t anything great about the OVERALL place besides the lobby and bar! The walking distance to the taste was great that’s all. Such a HUGE disappointment for me to spend my Birthday weekend in this CRAP!! Terrible!! Don’t wast your time!!!!!

Thank you for leaving feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Our guest feedback is important, as often times it may pinpoint an area of needed focus and attention. At W City Center we strive to uphold the highest level of service and provide an exceptional guest experience for each person who graces our property. This guest experience includes the cleanliness and overall upkeep of our guestrooms and common areas. To hear we have fallen short of that goal in any aspect is something we take very seriously and I'm disappointed to hear that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations. Our Style Department leaders have been alerted of your feedback regarding your guestroom's bedding and are working to locate the issue outlined, rectify the issue, and take the necessary steps to make this incident into a training opportunity to ensure that this experience does not repeat itself. I apologize for any discomfort caused by your guestroom's bedding.

Although the base rate for your reservation may have totaled $397, that would not include any applicable local occupancy taxes, which in our area is, unfortunately, 17%. Our standard $200 incidental hold is applied to every guest checking into our property. This incidental hold is set in place to cover charges that may be incurred during your stay (i.e. valet parking, in-room dining) and would have been outlined within your reservation's confirmation. And I apologize that the terms and conditions of your rate were not properly communicated to you.

I hope that on your next Chicagoland visit you'd allow us to make a more favorable impression. If your travels do lead you in our direction in the near future feel free to reach out to me, the property's W Insider. I'll do my very best to ensure a more memorable stay.

I stayed here for three nights with a friend and had a wonderful weekend. The room was impeccably clean and well decorated. They provided Bliss toiletries and this was a nice surprise. The entire facility is well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. What keeps me from giving this 5 stars? I would downgrade to 4.5 stars because we would have really appreciated a fridge to hold leftovers. Overall, I highly recommend this property. It's in a great location and was wonderful a hotel.

Checked in and loved the retro architecture in the lobby. The mega room we were upgraded to was good, but didnt have any type of view, so that was disappointing. The breakfast was very average, but included in our stay. The only problem we had was that our room had no fridges and the concierge (Eden)was rarely at her desk. We wanted to book multiple excursions, but could only catch her once to book Willis Tower Skydeck. It was discounted though. Her restaurant recommendations were outdated and not good. The room was okay. Bed was comfy, and the shower was sufficiently big enough. The water felt like it didnt get all the way hot though. Other than that it was a quality stay. The hotel is in a great area, but most places nearby are closed if it's a holiday.

Thanks for staying with us and leaving feedback regarding your stay. So glad to hear that you enjoyed your time here in downtown Chicago but surely disappointed to hear that your guestroom didn't live up to your expectations. Having been built in the 1920s, our unique structure does cause some variance between rooms especially with our location in the financial district. Since the construction of our storied property, many new, taller high-rises have popped up around our building and downtown Chicago as a whole. That being said, some of our rooms do tend to be a bit closer to nearby buildings than others, inhibiting views from most rooms. On your next visit, be sure to reach out to me, the property's W Insider. I'll do my very best to get you into a room with a nice view of the Chicago skyline and hook you up with recommendations that better suits your style.

Walking in, was so very cool and the decor kinda makes you feel like you go back in time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed as a family and my son said that the bed was "Epic!". It was very comfortable and the decor was very nice in the room.
