Great little neighborhood bakery and cafe, Excellent soups, breakfasts eats and lunches.
Salads were creative and food was very good. You order and on a nice day can sit outside and you carry your order out yourself. Delicious bakery goods at this popular spot. Worth a return visit.

“beware of the Passion Fruit Tart!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

We visited our daughter who now lives in Chicago and for my birthday she special-ordered the passion fruit tart with extra fruit and whipped cream on top. We picked it up and after a 10-minute ride were back at her apartment. When she opened it (and we transported it very carefully), the entire tart filling had flowed out of the tart. It was a horrible mess. She immediately called the bakery and the reason for my negative review is due to the way the staff handled her call. She offered to send photos and was given an email address that was incorrect. She called back and was told they did not need to see the photos but would give her a "gift certificate" for the bakery. There was never an apology. The baker was too busy to speak to her. The passion fruit tart is "tricky." There was no manager available. Noone ever called her back when they said they would. Finally, my daughter called back a few more times and eventually was told her account would be credited for the cost of the tart, but unbelievably, they could not look up what she paid, and would not take her word for what she said she was charged (they differed by several dollars). She will never be back. This bakery is apparently started by someone from Tartine in San Francisco, our absolute favorite bakery. I cannot imagine them handling a similar situation with such an unprofessional, uncaring, inept and downright offhanded manner. And really, if a tart is "tricky" to make, don't make it. This is supposed to be a professional bakery, not a home cook. If it's that "tricky" take it off your menu. If you can't make it, don't sell it. And if you screw up, own up. Take responsibility. Apologize for ruining an event. Make up for the mistake. None of the above happened. Unbelievable.

“Attention Foodies- Best baguette this side of the Atlantic”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

We go to France every year or so and one of the high points is having a fresh baguette every day. We have have sampled many boulangeries' baguettes. Floriole's is second to none. Crispy, crackly crust with soft chewing center. Clearly, the best in Chicago. They also make authentic canneles de bourdeaux. Again, crisp, crusty caramelized exterior with soft souffle-like interior. The only competition for these are from Gail Gand at Tru restaurant. I was talking to the baker's spouse who told me his mother had bought the copper molds for the canneles on one of her trips from Paris. These people are perfectionists! It is a pleasure to have them in Chicago.

“Delicious food, great atmosphere!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

I have eaten at Floriole many times and the food is always delicious! The quiches are so flaky and yummy and the pizzettes are wonderful. The atmosphere is great both indoors and out. I would definitely recommend Floriole to anyone wanting a delicious European treat or meal!
