“Great location - good base for short stay”
Reviewed June 5, 2010

Chicago wasn't cheap and this one cost us more than some others but it was fine. It is in a great location and was very clean. The laundry (free) was a bonus for us as we needed to wash by this time. The club room was a good spot for using their internet and hanging out. We would stay there again.

Stayed at Club Quarters for a business convention. Staff was extremely helpful, Brett was always a smiling face at the front desk. Great above great room, very modern, cozy. Bathroom was immaculate. Quiet and I loved having water bottles at the end of the hall. Internet was free and fast!

Found this hotel on a travel site that was mostly aimed at price. I thought I'd be giving in to price and forgoing quality a the $ that they charged for a room. To my surprise, the rooms were well appointed, clean and everything was new, albeit, smallish in size, including the bathroom. But, I'd gladly return to this hotel for the exemplary customer service and good location, in the heart of the financial district. In town for the National Restaurant Show, it is close enough to McCormick place ($11 cab ride) and central to everything else. Give this place a try, you'll be glad you did. I know I'll be back and stay here for NRA 2011.

The lack of hospitable receptionist and $1 per 2.4 minute stay beyond due checking out time ( i.e $40 USD per 98 minutes), deteriorate the strategic site of the city. So unless you are insensitive to hospitality and over charging, I don't recommend this hotel.

My friends and I happened at this hotel because we used Priceline. We got the hotel for $50 night, which was an amazing price for a hotel this nice and downtown Chicago. The hotel did have self check-ins which at the time were not working, however the staff who checked us in were very friendly and quick.
My one friend and I shared a room, which had a king bed. The room was very small but for anyone who has been to hotels in large busy cities, the rooms are always smaller. The room was very modern and clean. It had the basic amenities like hairdryer, coffee pot, shampoos, etc. It didn't however have an ironing board or extra pillows and blankets. These items were kept in a extra supply closet which is located on each floor of the hotel. The room also did not have a microwave or fridge. The hotel did have a filtered water dispenser on each floor with water bottles which I thought was very convenient.
The hotel is located a few minutes walk to the Sears tower and Michigan Avenue. It is also about a 30 minute walk to the Navy Pier which on a nice day is a beautiful walk through the city and Millennium Park. The hotel did not have complimentary breakfast but it did have a restaurant attached.
What I didn't like about the hotel were the sketchy guys who would get your car or a cab. They worked for the hotel however they would eye me up every time I walked by them and then speak something in Spanish and laugh which weirded me out. Besides the sketchy guys I would stay hear again and would recommend it.

My husband and I booked this hotel for a Saturday night through Hotwire and were delighted to discover that it was walking distance from the Goodman Theater, The Museum of the Art Institute, and the train station, the three places we planned/needed to go.

Our room on the fifth floor was small, but tastefully decorated in a modern style, and it was equipped with everything we needed including free wifi and a coffee maker. Other amenities included a comfortable king-size bed, flat-screen TV, desk, overstuffed chair, microwave and fridge. The bathroom had a large shower--no tub--and a blow dryer. The bathroom was fairly generously sized, though I wished there had been more counter space. Near the elevators was a purified water dispenser and a rack of empty plastic bottles for helping ones self. We were not disturbed by noise during the night, either from outside or inside the hotel.

The lobby features two self-check in stations, but there were also friendly/helpful staff behind the desk for check in and out. There was a lounge, with a gas fireplace, off the lobby, where we waited for our bags to be brought down--the hotel was nice enough to keep them for us at no charge after we checked out so we could go to the museum unencumbered. There was also a restaurant/bar off the lobby, but we didn't go there. We did avail ourselves of the Seven-Eleven conveniently located across the street. It was all that was open late Saturday as we strolled back to the hotel after 11 PM. The Starbucks downstairs was not open Sunday morning, but there were a number of open cafes in the direction of the museum.

The hotel is in an old, repurposed office building, but it has been completely redone. The hallways are narrow and the rooms are small, but this is a quality hotel. We would certainly stay there again.

This was our very first time staying in a Club Quarters location, and I must say that they do provide clean, comfortable (yet small) accommodations. I actually had an easier time getting over the size of the room, considering that many hotels in larger cities have smaller quarters. Yet there were a few things that had me a bit baffled.

First, we asked for an iron (because there is no steamer if you want wrinkle-free clothes), and it took over a half hour to get one delivered. Second, there is no fridge, so if you purchase food from a restaurant downtown there is no place to store your food, nor a microwave in case you get hungry later on that evening. Not only that, there isn't even a vending area which commonly house the commercial microwaves like you'd see in an office lunch room. There's nothing! This is very inconvenient, especially if you plan on staying more than one night. Third, parking sucks!!! They validate your parking but there are no in and out privileges, so you're basically paying twenty bucks whenever you leave the garage.

We plan on going back to Chicago next month, but will most likely opt for a different hotel further away from downtown. We figure we might spend more on the room, but we won't have to pay for parking and we might even have access to some basic amenities. Overall, if you're in town on business, need a quick place to crash-- by all means, go for it! Location is prime, you can walk to Michigan Avenue, Garrett's popcorn is about two blocks over...you're in the heart of everything. However, if you plan on staying more than a couple days, think twice. You might end up cramped and maybe even a little hungry because this is after all the definition of no frills.
