This small Italian restaurant in Bucktown is a find.
Since it opened, it has been one of our favorites. The staff is excellent, the interior is small and cozy and the food is outstanding.
We spent three weeks in Italy last fall and when we got back to Chicago we went to Antico and remarked that the food at Antico was as good as any of the meals we had in Italy.

This is in some ways a laid back neighborhood spot, but in terms of food, wine, etc., it is more of a high end italian without the pretense. They make everything in house, scallops are insane, pastas are all homemade and are great and never had anything I didn't love. Also has wonderful outdoor seating.

I stumbled on Antico in some reviews a few months ago, but finally decided to try it after running by the place on a new running route. It looked very atmospheric from the street - sleek outside, but a very cozy interior. And the reviews I found were very good, although I tend not to trust many Yelpers - they also love some truly awful places. As soon as my husband and I walked in, I had a hunch that the good reviews were warranted. It's a lovely warm restaurant - on a quiet side street but with the perfect familial buzz of conversation that you find in places filled with regulars who enjoy the food and the atmosphere and like to linger. We got a warm welcome from the host, who let us choose where to sit, and fantastic service throughout the evening. The wine list is excellent - lots of wines by the glass and an excellent range of wines from reasonable to top notch but expensive. And the food was wonderful. Simple but very flavorful, without a lot of fuss. We had an arugula salad - which was probably the low light of the meal since it's not really in season - delicious calamari fried in olive oil, a wonderful wild mushroom ragout over saffron polenta, a pasta course - gnocchi in sage and brown butter and an egg yolk risotto with parmesan and pancetta, and then panna cotta, doughnuts, and coffee to finish. The portions are small as they are designed for a full Italian meal of antipasto, pasta, an entree, and dessert. But we were perfectly satisfied with what we ordered. All around a lovely evening. If you're looking for a local place and not a trendy, loud, overpriced place with mediocre food - which is all too easy to find - head here!

Enjoyed an anniversary celebration dinner and was wowed by the meal and service! Sat in the garden patio in the back surrounded by fresh herbs and some greens growing in planter boxes. All herbs were creatively used in many dishes served on the menu. Enjoyed the grouper and husband the short ribs. Appetizers were great too. For dessert we shared the chocolate lava with a side of Lavender home made ice cream en lieu of whipped cream. Dreamy. Service was unbelievable. Felt like we were pampered with a friendly touch too. Highly recommend you check out this neighborhood gem

A intimate, small Italian restaurant in Bucktown is worth the on street parking search. The service is personal, informed, and the food is a culinary delight. Amazing small plates and a good wine list for a reasonable tab!
