“Full of ambience”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We always try to find blues bar when travelling and Chigago has quite a few choices. I do not know why we picked this one, but it was the right choice. We just enjoyed the ambience, beer and that music. You cannot go wrong with this blues club.

“Our FAVORITE bar to visit in Chicago”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Found this little bar on our first trip to Chicago, and have made a point to go there EVERY TIME we get there. Small bar, with great music, decent drink prices, and entertaining staff. Must do when you're in the windy city. Get your picture taken with the doorman :)

“Like it a lot !!”

I have been here 3 times over the years and love it. Real Blues , great music ...it is tiny really and packed which is fun. I need to sit...am old .. but did find a chair. It is fun. NO hype.. just like a blues bar should be.
It is real and that is why it is a success. What bright people to keep it real and not to to make it slick and horrid. The fee is very reasonable for a night of music. Musicians need to be paid and I am happy to pay them for the happiness they give. Drinks are reasonable ,too.
Love it.

“Feet thumping music!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Wanted to go to a local Blues bar in Chicago and used the official guidebook recommendations. Doors opened at 8 pm and we were there at 8.15pm....It is truly a dive bar with no ambience whatsoever. People started trickling in slowly. THERE IS NO FOOD here so eat and come. Cover charge was 8 bucks and beers are $5 only. The band (Shirley Johnson Band!) rolled in at 9 pm and thats when the fun started. After that the crowd warmed up rather quickly with people dancing and pretty much everyone was caught up in the great blues rhythm. They played very few classic covers but their original numbers were awesome. It is a safe place and crowd was very decent. Just a short hop from downtown.
Wonderful experience!

“Just ok”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

While in Chicago with another couple, we wanted a Chicago Blue's experience. After reading through the reviews, we decided on Blue Chicago. Being my first time in a Blue's club, I wasn't sure what to expect. We went there on a Sunday night and paid $8 pp cover. We got there by 9p to get a good seat, which wasn't necessary at all -- there was plenty of room in the small, dingy club all night long. The band was great, the headline singer could really belt out a tune but their attempts at engaging the crowd were really kind of corny and scripted. They took frequent, extremely long breaks which was a little frustrating. All in all, I would recommend this place only if you are not picky (it's really a small, run-down establishment) and only want to hear a few songs for a low cover. I wouldn't recommend planning your evening around it, but stop by if you are in the area.
