The pace at this pleasant restaurant seems to be dictated by the starting times of shows in Chicago's theater district. Staff, who share multiple roles, scurry at times when parties have to rush off to shows, leaving other diners to sometimes feel as if they are an afterthought. However, that ebb and flow did not affect the quality of the excellent food served. Savory presentations of rabbit and duck highlight the menu. Desserts are succulent and fairly priced. The wine list is strong. Beer offerings are meager. Because one of us has celiac disease, we were drawn to Aquitane by the extensive menu of gluten-free dishes on its website. The fact that far fewer gluten-free dishes appeared on the menu somewhat disappointed us, but there were enough to provide some level of choice. And the server was knowledgeable and attentive to the needs of a diner with celiac disease. The dining area is cozy. Tables are close but one does not feel intruded upon by nearby diners.

I went here after an early performance at the theater. This is a small neighborhood place and the staff cover several roles, so patience is needed when they're at peak busy. It has a comfortable, intimate atmosphere. The staff was welcoming and quickly apologized it would be a short wait for our table, and we perused the menu while enjoying a drink at the bar. The waiter was up front as to how long kitchen preparation time would be and the food was excellent.

Great food, excellent service and accessible prices. This restaurant is also nice and pretty quiet. Can we ask for more?

The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was easy to have a quiet conversation. The wine list was extensive and we enjoyed a very nice Sonoma Zinfandel. I enjoyed my Filet Mignon and my wife liked her scallops. The only reason it didn't get a 5 is that my son felt his rack of lamb, while very tender, was underspiced and a bit bland.
