“Couldn't rate the food because we never got it.”
Reviewed November 5, 2011

When we walked in I felt a little out of place. As everyone there turned to stare at us. Upon ordering we waited 20 minutes. While waiting everyone that came after us was served first. Finally the waitress came up to tell us they had lost our order. By that time we were starving and decided to go to a place with faster service across the road. (Joy yees noodles to be exact). They didn't seem very upset that they lost our order. So I won't return here. However I would like to say Lao you ju and Lao shanghai are very good restaurants with good service and great food.

“Great food at a great price”
Reviewed September 7, 2011

We were on a driving trip to Chicago and stopped here in Chicago's Chinatown on our way in and also on our way out of the city. It is a quick taxi ride or drive from downtown Chicago and there is also an El stop. I read about this place on Chowhound. The food will not disappoint. Prices are cheap - massive noodle soup for 5.95, xiao long bao for under 5 bucks I think. I would describe the decor as dingy Chinese - floral carpet, old menus but the service is prompt, the food is fresh (noodles are clearly fresh) and the price is right. It was one of our best meals in Chicago! The entrance is hard to find. We thought it was closed but the actual entrance is not on South Archer but on an inner corridor for this strip mall.
