“French/Mexican cuisine...genius and delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

You drive in the neighborhood and you just can't believe you're going to find something worthwhile but it really is amazing. The inside is beautiful and tasteful. My friend from Costa Rica introduced me to the place. We had course after course...mind blowing meals. I left stuffed. They had a good selection of wine from what I can tell, not big into wine but I had some that was delicious. The owner came to each table and was so attentive. I couldn't have been more impressed. It's an odd location but a total diamond in the rough.

“Excellent -- Latin Fusion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

In an out of the way location -- the Back of the Yards neighborhood, sits this small charming restaurant with outstanding variations on Latin staples. First we are greeted and seated by the chef/owner. The QUESADILLA DE CAMARON appetizer was an great mix of shrimp, superb sauce and a little bit of tortilla. the entrée PECHUGA DE POLLO EN SALSA DE CACAHUAT is a chicken breast with Asian influence... the menu description is pretty good:Oven Roasted Chicken Breast, Potatoe Wedges, Mushrooms, Baby Bakchoy, Grilled Banana Peppers and Spicy Peanut Sauce.

Overall great dining experience and value.

“excellent, creative dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

Just finished another delicious dinner at Amelia's. The appetizers are great, our favorite is the quesidilla quitelacoche, (spelling?). Very different, not the usual oversalty, cheese covered treats you may find in many restaurants, The salmon with carmelized fruit and avocado in creme freche is wonderful, as are all of the other entrees we have tried. The deserts. especially the blueberry bread pudding are great. Well worth the trip to a sort of out of the way neighborhood, where parking is free and plentiful, Service excellent.

“The best deal for the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

I've been to Amelia's three times and will not hesitate to back again. The service is not doting but certainly sufficient. The recipes are zesty and elegant without the over use of rich creams. Margaritas are outstanding and a good wine selection that will not break the bank.
It is one of the very best meals one can get in Chicago for a reasonable price. It is recently been discovered so it is beginning to be more difficult to drop in. Suggest reservations.
