I have taken a number of my employees here when on business in Chicago. Every one of them absolutely loves Sable! Sharing the small plates allows you to taste a lot of dishes and they range from very good to fabulous. The plating is excellent as well. Favorites include the deviled eggs, tuna tostadas, lobster roll and brussels sprouts. Only complaint: where did the Duck Fat Fries go??? Chef Heather is very creative. Waitstaff can be uneven, but our waitress this time was phenomenal. Reasonable wine list and a justifiably busy bar.

I like Sable...lots of interesting choices to meet broad range of needs. Favorites were kale chips, curry vegetables, cheese curds with spicy ketchup, short rib sliders and other short ribs, and red lentil, cakes. The corn brûlée was too sweet for me... Same with chicken and waffles... Not my preference. Wine selection was good, service was good and atmosphere was fun.

Let me first start by saying this food was absolutely delicious. Went with a party of 6, and we shared about 10-12 dishes (just don't save the poutine until the last round)! The cocktail list is expansive and the one I had was delicious, even though I was at first unsure of the ingredients. The cocoa-nib steak was a standout, as was the vanilla bean lobster dish. I would have given this place a 5, however we were there nearly 3 hours, the service was quite slow for us, drinks alone took 20 minutes to get from time of order. We were only once offered clean plates and silverware, I had to ask. The server who brought our charcuterie plate simply set it on the table and walked away without bothering to explain what any of the cuts were, so we had to wait and flag down the manager to explain the plate. Our server infrequently checked on us. Several small common-sense things that were overlooked made this experience a 4 - but I would go back. The bar also looked like a fun late-night swanky spot for a drink with friends or a date.

Executive chef was on Top Chef show. The items on the menu are classic American style done in a very fancy, upscale way. Each item is for sharing, but small plates style. Wine list is very good, but pricey. Food presentation is fantastic....gorgeous! Tastes as good as it looks. Don't forget to save room for dessert. The butterscotch pudding dish was absolutely incredible. Worth every penny!

There is a group of us who enjoy going into Chicago to enjoy appetizers and good wine (we rarely do entrees; we prefer to get a lot of little things and share). Sable's menu is so good and so unique and we have never had anything yet that didn't have us oohing and aaahing. The service is always outstanding; the ambiance is so warm, the cocktails and the wine list are divine. Unless you're going to just have drinks or wine and dessert in the bar, I definitely recommend snagging a reservation.
