This tour made our trip. We loved all of the stops; The history, the food the atmosphere, our tour guide (Anna-Lynn, she was absolutely fantastic - super knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun!!!!), the pace and the bang for our buck. We got to enjoy some great places that we would have never found on our own. The restaurants were welcoming and full of character. We cannot say enough about how much we absolutely enjoyed our time on the Taste Buds tour! Would do it again on our next visit and will be raving to everyone we know about the tour! Thank you!

My husband and I took the Flavors tour offered by Tastebud Tours and it was a great experience. The owner even showed up and went to every location with us. You can tell he really wants everyone to have a wonderful experience on their tour. Annalynn (sp?) was our tour guide and she was excellent.

All of the places they took us to were iconic and served delicious food. They recommend that you come hungry to the tour; they are not lying! We were offered so much to eat, we were stuffed. All of the food is included in the price. It is such a great deal! We learned a lot of history during the tour and it made us appreciate the city even more.

We highly recommend this tour during your stay in Chicago!

Went on the food tour with my husband-- we decided to go to Chicago for the weekend on a whim and booked this food tour easily online and on short notice. The tour group was small, just 11 adults and we went to 6 different restaurants in the Gold Coast area (it was called the "Flavor" tour on the website). The tour guide, Victoria, was super nice and sociable. She knew the area (and Chicago in general) really well and gave us some ideas of other things to see before we left town. The tour took us to enjoy all the Chicago staples: think deep dish pizza, Chicago style hot dogs and brownies (which I didn't realize were "from" Chicago). Our tour included a visit to the Billy Goat Tavern for cheese burgers, Fannie May for a chocolate tasting and Heaven on 7 for gumbo and jambalaya (seemed random, but was really tasty). You got LOTS to eat--our tour left at 11 a.m. and I wish I didn't eat breakfast--felt like I could have rolled back to the hotel.

My only "gripe" (if you'd even call it that) is that because the food tour was in such a high-tourist area, there weren't many stopping points along the walks from one restaurant to another, you know just to give basic, tourist-y information about things along the way. The sidewalks were so congested that we all just needed to keep moving, and if you weren't walking right next to the tour guide you couldn't hear her. This isn't anything the tour or the guide could control, but I might recommend looking into tastebud tours in some of the other neighborhoods.

Wear comfy shoes, the first few restaurants on this tour were super close together, but the last few were much farther away. Bathrooms were at each location and in addition to your food items, you got a glass of water at each stop--although there was time to order a drink or cocktail if you so choose. Overall, I think we spent about $90 for the two of us for this tour--comparable to other food tours we have done in other cities.

My teen daughter and I found the Tastebud Food Tour to be a perfect mix of entertainment, information, and delicious food. We started at Pizano's with the quintessential Chicago deep-dish pizza- a perfect way to begin. From there we went to the Drake Hotel (ladies, check out the palatial powder room. Sounds weird, but do it) and on to more food. Our tour guide was Jaime Lyn, and she was both very gracious and very knowledgeable about Chicago history. She brought Chicago history alive with dozens of historical tidbits along with the food.

We were also lucky to have the proprietor of Tastebud Tours, Lynn, along with us for most of the tour. Lynn seems to be very passionate about his love of Chicago and his love of food, and all the owners of the establishments seemed genuinely happy to see both him and Jaime Lyn. We learned that Lynn is also passionate about helping poor children get enough food, and is active in feeding children in both Chicago and Africa. That made us feel even better about the experience.

The food was delicious and plentiful (we were so full that we actually skipped dinner that night), the history was fun to learn, and the owner and guide seemed like caring, soulful people. I understand that they are beginning Tastebud tours in San Francisco, closer to our home, and I can't wait to try that one.

Thanks Jaime Lyn and Lynn for a terrific tour!
