Hyde Park is a very old and genuine neighborhood.
Al Capone reportedly held weekly card games on Shoreland Hotel and called the hotel home for a while.
The UChicago campus is also a symbol of Hyde Park. It has a nice campus with some attractions around: Robie House, Rockfeller Chapel, Smart Museum and Oriental Museum.
I would recommend some restaurants:
- Sit Down (very fresh sushi);
- Medici Bakery (fresh sandwiches and tasty pastries) or restaurant (juicy burgers);
- Uncle Joe's (tasty roasted Chicken and Caribbean sides)
The point next to the lake has a good view of the city's skyline.
Obama's house is also in Hyde Park.
A famous jazz club is located in this neighborhood: checkerboard lounge.
