We visited at 1:30pm on a Friday. 20-30 minute wait. No problem, we had a beverage outside. Friendly staff, great menu. The problem was how SLOW the food came out and in a different sequential order.

I was here with a group from a large convention being held close by. We had a group of 8 people gathering at this restaurant. The Purple Pig came highly recommended for it's interesting menu. It was suggested that we arrive early (4pm) to find a place for all of us since they did not take reservations They also would not seat us without half of the group. I understand their reasoning and they almost lost us. We were prepared to head elsewhere for our interesting food and expensive wine pairing meal. We were finally allowed to sit outside on the patio- nice breeze and shade in 100 degree humidity. A great patio and I was glad we stayed. We were fortunate that the small group next to use left and the person helping us let us hold the final 2 seats.

Josephine was our server and overall guest pleaser- She was phenomenal! Without hesitation, she managed a group of silly D.O.'s with class, knowledge and a sense of humor. Without realizing it, she remembered our names before we knew hers. That goes a long way in my book! Her patience and help with the meat and cheese menu really made the experience wonderful. She kept our glasses full and smiles on our faces the entire time.
We also had the assistance of a young gentleman with our wine selections. we had the Gai'a Assyrtiko and an '04 Croatian red. Both were recommended and paired well with our array of tapas style choices for our meal.
The highlight of the meal was the 1/2 roasted duck. The rest of our choices were served to pass around the table and share.
I recommend The Purple Pig for anyone who can take the time to wait for a table and does not need a reservation. It was challenging to find a place to sit for about 1/2 hour and with a little coaxing were able to without our entire group present. Aside from the logistics around accommodating a group, this is an excellent choice for the non finicky palate!

Went here on a recommendation from a friend who lived in Chicago. Every bite was delicious, and I am not kidding. We were there for a late lunch after arriving in the city at about 2:00, which turned out perfect because there were only a few people outside eating, more inside. Staff was nice and prompt, friendly and made great recommendations. We had the Grilled Beets, which I will not stop talking about, they were so incredible! We also had the cornbread!!! Perfect and an amazing combination of favors. We had the chorizo panini which was also just so delicious. Food was prompt, presentation was great, but the tastes, the incredible tastes that they afforded were by far some of the best food I've had. They get extremely busy around mealtime, as you would expect, so if you have the ability to do a late lunch or early dinner you'll have a better time getting a seat. We had the milk braised port shoulder which was so tender it came right apart in our forks. Plenty of food and the pricing was very reasonable. We are very glad we stopped.

This place is the awesome! Central location on n Michigan (Mag Mile) with and upbeat vibe, modern farm house style. The service was impeccable. I felt like I was at a 5 star dining experience w the service without the fluff. The flavors were incredible- had the hummus, quail, parsley and garbanzo smear. Incredible texture, spice and depth of flavors! Wow. Will be back to try w friends and dig into menu.

The Purple Pig is dynamite! We shared multiple dishes and loved them all, but save room for the half-duck! It's the thing dreams are made of. It is a small, noisy somewhat rowdy place so know that going in, but if your game for the atmosphere, you won't be disappointed!
