“Unique - a must go!”
Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

Went to the place with friends on our last night in Chicago. The place is conveniently located on Magnificent Mile, giving us a bit to do during the wait until they call you when your table is ready (nice touch!) The menu featured some really interesting pork dishes, and amongst all we picked the deep-fired pig ear (excellent!) and roasted bone marrow (comes with some warm bread; was tasty but a bit on the oily side...not to my liking). I ordered the pork blade steak and it came surprisingly well with the honey sauce. The steak itself was cooked very well - juicy and not overcooked Would love to try the pork shoulder that my friend ordered (he said it was tender and full of flavour) The place has a comprehensive wine list which our friendly waiter was more than happy to provide suggestions on. Overall a very nice dining experience and would definitely pay a second visit next time I'm in town.

“Cheese, swine and wine - i'm in.”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

The Purple Pig is a perfect combination of relaxing, friendly and unassuming combined with delicious, unique, and adventurous small plates. The whipped feta is plate licking good. They offer a great selection of meats and cheeses and clever other dishes. The atmosphere is current and the service good.

“What a find!”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

"Small bite" plates to share with friends were the order of the day! We chose it because we liked the name, and stayed for a while because we loved the food and experience! The banana desert is a can't miss!
You have to love sitting with people you don't know because of the small size and intimate seating. But that was fine with us and we laughed and joked with our table mates while sampling the amazing choices on the menu.
Service was fast and courteous. We will definitely return when we are back in Chicago!

“Great food and fun atmosphere.”

We had to dine at the Purple Pig since everyone just raves about it and now I know why. The food was unique and exotic. The wines were amazing and the staff was fun, interactive and welcoming. If you have one meal in Chicago the Purple Pig is a must!

We are starting to dine at the Purple Pig on every visit. The location is great, the service is phenomenal and there is a different dish or two to try on each visit. Servers are skilled at their recommendations for food and wine. Worth a wait!
