We spent 2 nights here recently during a quick trip to Chicago. We were impressed from the start with a helpful receptionist, great room with a view, wine reception and hotel amenities. Thank you to Cody for the complimentary bottle of wine to enjoy while we enjoyed our first trip away from our baby twins!

My wife and I recently spent the weekend at the Hotel Palomar in Chicago. The first thing I noticed was that it was probably one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at. The lobby, lounge area, workout facility, and, most importantly, our room were very clean. Nice job Palomar staff with keeping your hotel nice and shiny! As with other Kimpton hotels we stayed at, the staff are very nice to deal with, even at around 6:00 in the morning when we checked out! The Palomar is a great little hotel you should check out. What are you waiting for? You deserve it!

Dear dwraff:

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel - and thanks for the recommendations - we hope lots of people will take you up on it and come and visit us soon. Housekeeping will be so proud to hear how clean and shiny new you felt the hotel looked - after three years of being open that takes a lot of hard work.

Take care and don't be a stranger.

We searched for the perfect property for our President's Day weekend getaway Wow, did we choose well!
We selected the Hotel Palomar for many reasons: location, amenities, reviews and my husband had Inner Circle points. What a great property!
After a long trip and frustrating traffic, we were greeted by a friendly valet, front desk and bellman. All very professional and welcoming. Dana, at the front desk, made sure checkin was simple and all details were handled with ease. Then, she emerged from a back room with a welcome gift for our daughter. What an unexpected treat! The bellman couldn't have been friendlier and even remembered us the following day, checking on the status of our stay. Upon entering our room, we found a bottle of wine with a note, snacks, and a delicious cupcake for our daughter. Oh, and the friendliest goldfish EVER shared our room for the weekend.
The property is so uniquely beautiful. It's nestled into a great location for shopping and dining. Our corner room had so much natural light and views of much of the city. Four of us were comfortable in this room, without feeling cramped. Yes, it's near a fire station and can be noisy, but you'll likely find that in many places.
We took our daughter to the pool on the 17th floor. The zen music reminded us of a spa, and the blue ambient light added to the a relaxing setting. She giggled with delight. No overwhelming chlorine odor, either. Sadly, our next visit found the pool much more crowded, the zen music switched to pop. Because its a small lap pool, it doesn't take many people to fill it. There's a rooftop terrace adjacent to the pool. In season, I'm sure it's a fantastic place to unwind.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast Sunday morning at SABLE. We're often left wanting after dining in our hotel, but not this time. Our server, Phil, was sweet and attentive. Coffee magically appeared just as the cup was emptied. The menu offered something to please each of us, and was served promptly.
Normally, we can't pry our kids out of bed in the morning. The hot chocolate in the lobby was a great incentive, especially with peppermints and marshmallows.
Sadly, the weekend came to an end, but we all look forward to returning!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the views and sunlight of our SE corner room. I'm sure higher floors are better if city noise bothers you.

Stayed in Chicago many times, and just loved the Palomar.

Very helpful staff, clean and quiet comfortable rooms, and a room service menu that is simple, delicious, and relatively inexpensive (a rarity).
The location was great, close to Michigan Avenue shops, and multiple great restaurants. Free coffee in the lobby area in the morning was a nice treat, as was the wine reception in the evening.

Internet was free (if you are a Kimpton Member), as was the gym, so none of the 'little extra' expenses that many hotels lump on. The pool is also great, and if you want to wear your robe up there, they give you a zebra stripe, or leopard print one in the room, so, a little fun.

If you want a good drink, the bar downstairs (Sable) is excellent and has both great cocktails, and a phenomenal single malt list.

All round, this is my new first choice hotel in Chicago

Room Tip: Gym in on the 17th floor - so if you have a room on the 16th, ask for the other side of the building!

Dear newYorkNashy:

Thank you for making us your new first choice in Chicago. Hopefully we will be together for many years to come.

We appreciate all of the 5 star ratings from value to service, and the excellent comments, but must confess confusion as to why the overall rating was only a four. We always use these reviews to learn and grow and improve, so as an operator it can sometimes be confusing for us to know what we could have done better.

Thank you and we hope to see you again soon.
