I attended this spa with a group of friends, phenomenal choice. The massages were perfect and the amenities priceless. The food however was less than average and left much to be desired.

For my daughter's birthday, I signed us up for a couples massage at the Peninsula Spa. We entered the spa area which is dark and even a bit exotic for Chicago. It certainly transports one away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago's shopping. The lockers are clean and tastefully done; and the relaxation area is fabulous. We wish it could all be a little bit bigger. Our masseuses -- Veronika and Allison were fantastic. The best part, however, were the massage beds themselves -- the sheets were actually horizontally striped towels. The texture was relaxing and plush feeling contributing to the overall luxuriousness of the service. This spa is a definite treasure in the heart of Chicago.

I had a wonderful body scrub treatment at this spa. The therapist did an excellent job, however, the door was opened TWICE in the middle of my treatment. How can anyone expect to relax? I asked the therapist what the problem was and she told me she slid the sign beside the door to "treatment in progress" but that people (spa guests) just open the door anyway. She said it happens all the time. If it happens all the time, then something should be done to correct the problem.

There were also contractors walking through spa areas. I found that strange and definitely not relaxing. Here I am in my robe enjoying a tea ceremony with my sister and male fix it people walk through the area!

The spa really did not have much to offer other than treatments, just a steam room. The hot tub is beside the pool which is for general hotel use and really isn't a spa environment.

The Peninsula is an awesome hotel with an exceptional reputation. I expected much better, especially for the price.

I will keep looking for a fantastic spa experience in Chicago. So far, nothing impresses.

My wife and I had a couples massage at the Peninsula. The hotel is among the best I have ever stayed in the world (see my other review). The spas, while good, does not live up to the reputation of the rest of the hotel. The therapists were quite good. My wife, however, said hers was very quiet and hard to understand (poor English). Overall, we were very pleased with the massage. Strictly speaking about the massage, the quality was as good as any resort we have ever visited. The only real concern was the facilities. The waiting room was not very serene, as it is in a high traffic area, and the lounge chairs are right on top of each other. So much so, they have a draw curtain between them. Other than a steam room, there are no amenities in the locker rooms and to sit in a jacuzzi you need to go to the common pool. The therapy rooms, like the waiting rooms, were very bland. The lobby is the same entrance as the gym and you have to walk through the lobby, from the locker rooms, to get to the therapy rooms. We really enjoyed the massages, but the spa in a great hotel or resort is supposed to provide a “spa experience.” The spa experience did not occur.
