“Best hotel we've ever been to!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Elysian on our wedding night and the night after. We couldnt have started our honeymoon at a better place. I'm an interior designer and am a little snobby about hotel atmosphere. The only disappointment you have here is having to leave.

I must say I am a little saddened that they were bout out by a Hilton company. It seems to take away from the exclusivity of the Elysian name but I'd still go back!

This hotel is 5 stars all the way. I travel extensively and the Elysian is as good if not better than my favorite hotels in Asia.

The staff are fabulous and the service is a standout. From the greeter, front desk, gym, room service everyone was warm and responsive.

My room was huge with a drawing room with open fire, double bathroom big enough to hold a ball in and bedroom to match.

We had dinner in the bistro which was very well expecuted and breakfast there in the morning was just as good.

The gym was modern, clean and very well equipped. My only gripe is that we only had one night!

This was our third time back to the Elysian. Our first night it was the Elysian and our second night it was the Waldorf-Astoria. Good news: You now get Hilton Honor points. Bad news: No one knows if the name will remain and you get Hilton Honor points.

Service is still impecable and the spa is the cities best. If you love a good whirlpool, they have perhaps the best in the USA. And if you love a good rain shower, they are #1 in this category as well. Love the lap pool and pilates studio but wish they had more free weights and space for the gym. Fresh fruit abounds along with small bottles of Evian.

All rooms are pretty much suites and well kept. Every convenience is available including two pull out refrigerator drawers filled with goodies along with an ice maker drawer.

The bar is intimate but they pour very small drinks. Wine is your best bet. And pass on the housemade potato chips unless you want to eat several bowls.

The casual restaurant is OK and could use some improvement in food quality and prices. We have yet to dine at their fine restaurant.

Overall, still the best place in Chicago. No tipping policy is enforced and hope it stays that way. Service is the best.

Room Tip: There are NO bad rooms.

We enjoyed a weekend stay for my husband's birthday. I will only be repeating what the other reviewers mention, but that's okay. From the moment we entered the hotel to the time we left, everything was wonderful. The service was professional, discreet and courteous. If you are looking for ostentatious luxury, you need to look elsewere. This hotel is classy at its best.

Our room was large and immaculate. For the first time since our numerous vists to Chicago, we did not hear a single siren during our stay. The hotel is set back slightly so the peace and quiet were obvious.

The wonderful thing about this hotel is that we felt we were staying in a chateau in Europe, not a busy city. We will visit again.

I stayed at the Elysian for a corporate event in Chicago. Fantastic hotel with an incredible staff. From the moment you walk in the doors they cater to your every need. Very nice property - rooms are spacious, double sided fireplace, spa-like bathroom. The food for all of the events was incredible. Cannot say enough about this great hotel! Don't think twice.. Stay at this hotel when visiting Chicago!!

It's no surprise to hear that the Elysian is soon going to be the Waldorf Astoria of Chicago. This place is first class. Elegant, spacious rooms have wonderful extras like a fireplace, refrigerator drawer full of beverages, freezer drawer with ice, a tub & shower, and TV in the bathroom mirror. Customer service was top notch. Location was great - two Starbucks, Walgreens, Gibsons Steakhouse and other great restaurants within a block or two.
