Owner description: We are Chicago's river transportation service. An iconic fleet of black and yellow boats, we serve all three branches of the Chicago River from March to November. Our stops include Michigan Avenue, Chinatown, North Avenue, Clark and LaSalle, The Chicago Riverwalk, and Union and Ogilvie Train Station. There is no better way to get around Chicago than by boat!

One day we drove our car to the station, took the Metro train into the city, took a taxi to the Museum of Science and Industry, took a CTA bus to Navy Pier. We boarded a water taxi to the next stop. There where we got on a tram to Michigan Avenue. From there, we walked to a restaurant and took the "L" back to the station. We took (including walking) EIGHT different modes of transportation in one day!! Not too shabby!

Easy to use, different type of taxi experience, prices weren't bad and overall kind of fun. Worth the use and price.

The Water Taxi takes you from Navy Pier to the Aquarium Museum Campus)
You might pay a lot more to take a tourist water boat down the lakefront but the water taxi takes the same route and SO AFFORDABLE!
Don't pass this up.

The water taxi takes you from the Metra station on Madison and Canal to Michigan Avenue. It's a great ride for a few bucks and beats walking from the East to the West especially on hot summer days. This has evolved since the early days when I believe the ride was free. Now, they take credit cards and have actual signs. It doesn't run in the winter months but if you have the chance, try it out. You won't be disappointed.

It's out there, but a lot of people don't realize how inexpensive and easy to take to get around Chicago!. Start a Navy Pier and for a few dollars get a boat ride on the lake to the other side of the city and end up at the Museum campus. Start out at the river at by the Tribune Building and for a few dollars go to Chinatown. Its fun, cheap and you see beautiful architecture that you would not normally see!
