We visited here during a Christmas visit to Chicago in December 2013. It was a freezing day, so the humid and warm inside of the Conservatory was a welcome change! The Conservatory is nice--there were a number of beautiful and exotic plants. The orchid room was especially gorgeous, and the fern room was also very interesting. Signage helped point out some of the plants and was helpful, but not omnipresent so you felt overhwelmed. At Christmas, there is also a poinsettia exhibit; this was a little less grand than we anticipated, but still pretty and seasonal. Overall, it was a nice hour or so, not too busy (Friday afternoon), and free! Worth a stop for sure.
