❀ My Mom & Dad took me to the conservatory for every birthday when I was growing up! I LOVED it!!! I wanted to swim in the little secret pools. It was a magical , magical place to dream!!

Much smaller than the Garfield Conservatory, but it's FREE...and right next to the Lincoln Park Zoo (also free!).

Very nice to stroll through any time of the year as it's indoors & climate controlled. It won't take more than an hour (at most) unless you look at every leaf!

It has multiple rooms to go through, all well-maintained. Older building, bathrooms at the front.

Nice addition to a zoo trip.

Went inside during holiday trip to Lincoln Park Zoo...amazing, beautiful, very knowledgable staff, warm, humid - it was so beautiful. Such a fabulous place to see so many beautiful pointsettias and other holiday folliage. Easy to maneuver even on crutches which we were. Enjoy!

We forgot about the bad weather while enjoying the greenery, the orchids and the playfully arranged dinosaurs! Because it is rather small, you do not need more than an hour.

Open a hour earlier than the Zoo (9 A.M.), the Lincoln Park Conservatory is a relaxing place to start a visit to Lincoln Park. Built 1890-1985, the Conservatory's four main rooms provide a congenial visit to biomes other than Chicago.

The entrance opens into the Palm House with palms and many other food plants such as cacao and breadfruit. Behind it on the Eastern side is the Fern Room with its ancient Cycads. Still further back is the Orchid House with hundreds of orchids, bromeliads, and carnivorous plants. Returning on the western side of the Conservatory you go through the Show House.

When I was there, the Conservatory was also hosting a contemporary sculpture exhibition with work set among the plants. Outside the Conservatory, the Conifer Garden has more than 150 specimens.

A leisurely walk among the Conservatory's plants shouldn't take more than an hour. It would provide opportunities to take photographs of many colorful and unusual flowers and foliage.
