This is a great place if you are interested in tropical plants. The fern collection is spectacular.

How on earth can an attraction like this be free???? Highly recommended, even if you dont like plants... Its full to the seams, 95% of plants are labeled, clean everywhere including toilets, goes on for ever and even has comedy value with the dinosaurs in the fern house...AND ITS FREE!!!!!!! (Take note Eden, with your " Lets take the plants out and put in another restaurant to get even more money out of the public" policy ). WELL DONE CHICAGO

The warm tropical conservatory was a welcome during our frigid March visit to Chicago. The conservatory was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The most amazing part was the orchid house and the show house - both at the back past the main palm house. The curators did a fantastic job in maintaining this conservatory. In addition to the showy flowers, the conservatory also had the largest collection of "ant plants" we've seen. We also visited the Garfield Park Conservatory on the same trip. Both are definitely worth a visit. And the most amazing part is that they're free!
