There are tons of shops here with fairly reasonable city prices, but Navy Pier is so much more than that! There is a huge movie theater, a ferris wheel, miniature golf course, convention center, lots of restaurants, boats and water attractions and more. Its well worth the visit!

The place is definitely crowded and a very touristy place to go (if you talk to a Chicgoan they will tell you how much they hate it usually!). Having said that, I think it's worth the visit if you're in Chicago for a holiday.
The atmosphere is good, and it is ideal for families and couples alike. There are plenty of places to eat and drink as well as arcade like games and of course the big Ferris wheel. It's a perfect place to go on a Saturday night to see the fireworks that set off at 10.15 too!
If you walk right to the end of the pier, you can get some spectacular views of the Chicago skyline too, so if anything it's worth a visit just for that!

A must see on any trip to Chicago. Go during the week, very crowed on the weekends. Lots to see and do for the family. The Chicago waterfront is fabulous. So clean and you can walk for miles.

Walk out to the farthest end of the pier for a great view of the Chicago skyline. It looks even better after dark with all the building lights on. Yes, this is a tourist place and food/drinks are pricey but there isn't an admission fee. Ride the giant Ferris Wheel for more great views of Lake Michigan and Chicago's shoreline.

It is a busy place in the summer, more than I have ever experienced before. There are advantages to visit both daytime and nighttime, but either time is fine. There are a variety of restaurants both quick food and fine dining, and many snack foods. Tour boats line the walkway with many options to see the sights. Three amusement rides (a Ferris wheel, a carousel, and swing ride are available) and inside, there is a nice botanical garden to explore. Navy Pier is worth a visit but remember there is a fair amount of walking once you get off the bus, car, or taxi if you plan to explore it in full.
