I have reviewed this hotel earlier and was back in Feb. 2013 again. The rooms are still comfortable and clean; the staff are still friendly and accomodating; the breakfast service is still great--and you still need to be there on time or else!

We were in Chicago for a couple of operas at the Lyric Opera (one block away) as well as a northside concert and some museum/art institute time. Our room this time was on the 7th floor on the wing of the hotel that reaches back into mid-block. The result was that while it was nicely quiet most of the time, we did notice the El trains on the Wells Street (the sound coming up the alley). The room appointments are nice, but not luxurious; strangely no conditioner along with the shampoo and, some time spent in getting decaf pods for the Keurig machine. (We did have some with us so it was no big problem.) The breakfast service was fine, as usual, except that on the weekend morning, there were no scrambled eggs; only biscuits and gravy with either the sausage or bacon.

The positive plus that brings us back is not just the location and the comfort but also some of the long time staff. The two ladies who preside over the breakfast service (they overlap on days off so one at least is always there) are great folks. We were greeted the first morning including reference to where we were from and how they'd not seen us since last year. Another regular is David--who keeps an eye on things generally and helps with luggage, directions and a lot of special requests. The people here make a big difference

Room Tip: upper floors may be quieter

This was my first time staying at a La Quinta.

I booked a trip to Chicago with a couple of friends and my wife dowtown to see a show at the Chicago Theater and decided we should just stay the night.

I was in charge of booking the hotel which is a good choice :)

Read lots of reviews, compared amenities and prices and settled on this one. We loved it.

Clean, modern, impressive. Good service with a smile. Small rooms, but we had a Keurig Coffe machine which was nice since my wife is addcited to those coffees.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone not looking to spend a ton on a hotel downtown, who just needs a clean, comfortable place to sleep and shower.

Great location and good facilities
The bed was comfy and the room very quiet which all made for a great night's sleep.
The breakfast wasn't bad nor was it great, plastic plates and cutlery definitely let it down and after 6 nights stay the same options were unappetising.

Would stay again

I stayed here for a work event right around the corner. I was surprised that there was a La Quinta in downtown Chicago. It was surprisingly nice in design and cleanliness. The check in was efficient - if somewhat brusque. (There was a long line as our group all descended at once - I think they were just trying to get through it as fast as possible.) The room was spacious, well designed, and very clean. The only negatives were with the in room supplies. 1. There was no conditioner in the room. A coworker of mine called down and asked for some. The desk clerk said that she could come down and get it, but she asked for it to be brought up. The clerk gave her a little attitude and sighed that he'd have security bring it up. 2. In my room, there was only one coffee packet (single serve) and no tea at all. Other than those items, the stay was quite good, and next time I'm in Chicago, I'm quite likely to stay there.
