“Go Cubbies and stay at La Quinta downtown Chicago!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2012

I give the La Quinta downtown Chicago high marks in every category. It is a great value, beautiful rooms, clean as a whistle and the staff is exemplary. We have stayed in this hotel several times over the last two years and each time we have found something more appealing about the property. They have a pool, which is rare in the city. The rooms are clean, large, and tastefully decorated. I asked for rooms together and, seriously, did not expect that to happen but it DID. The staff stored our bags all day while we were at the game. They even provided batteries for my little fan that I take to the game! Great complementary breakfast. Convienient to Union Station (walking distance) and to the L.

This chain of hotels have been very pleasant, we have stayed in them in several states. This one has large rooms, fast elevators, nice breakfast, really a good value. The elevated train is a block away.

Room Tip: Rooms are very similar.

We stayed during a holiday weekend and found increased rates across all types of hotels. Booked via Hotwire at a rate 33% less than direct booking and online booking sites. Used online research to make an educated guess that it would be this particular hotel and was right. Very pleased overall.

Five stars for the staff - efficient and friendly at both the breakfast (one lady was the happiest and friendliest person on staff) buffet and front desk.

Four stars overall for the amenities of free internet, small gym, free breakfast (hot food's not great, but it's included so no complaints)--plenty of bread options- and very clean hotel rooms.

If you are a couple, change rooms if you get room 816, which only has one double bed in it!

While some doubles might work for two people, this bed was way too small. We're already petite people, and it was hard to sleep. The hotel was fully booked, but the front desk told us we could change rooms the next day. Stored our luggage with them in the morning and in the afternoon we were able to change to a 6th floor room with a *king* bed and had so much more room space-wise! We saw several groups do a late checkout, and it was very crowded. While it didn't have the bathtub in room 812, just having the shower was perfectly fine. See the photos for the disparities between room types.

We noticed a lot of business travelers as well as tourist groups from Europe and some youth groups. Traveled over a long weekend, but even during business weekdays, did not feel there was too much city noise to deal with. No in-room safe.

A block away from the "El" train that takes you to Midway, and a couple blocks further from the "El" train to O'Hare. If you want to buy a one or multiple day unlimited ride CTA transit pass, go to the Walgreens down the street (short business hours though) or a CVS and buy them there as the stations do not sell the passes! They only sell dollar amount tickets charged per ride.

Room Tip: Unless you are a solo traveler, avoid room 816, which only has a small double bed in it that is not...

This hotel was just to the west side of the Loop in the Financial District. The breakfast is included in the room price and was outstanding. They have a very large breakfast room. Everything is new since they just opened in 2009. Wi-fi is free and you can access it in the rooms. I would absolutely go there again and would recommend it highly. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Just a great facility with great levels of service and amenities. The place is clean, well maintained and well run - customer service is priority #1, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again -- money well spent. They probably need to mix up their breakfast selection occasionally and provide local papers. I only gave it two stars for restaurant because there isn't one on-site nor is there a bar, room service is provided by an outside restaurant again, 2-stars by charging premium pricing plus 18% gratuity and then a $ 3.00 delivery charge.

Overall -- a great job and kudos to the entire staff as I just returned from the Wyndham in Clearwater Beach, FL whereas I received less than half of the facility/services for twice the price

I stayed here while attending training for my job. The hotel is located next door to the training facility which was the first thing that appealed to me. However, once arriving I knew I made the right choice. I was very satisfied with this hotel ... very clean and very new/fresh looking. The continental breakfast included scrambled eggs and bacon (a big plus!) along with the other usual options.

The staff were very professional and welcoming and helped me in choosing locale restaurants for dining ... which is the only problem I ran into (which has nothing to do with the hotel itself). The hotel is located in Chicago's financial district so after about 7 or 8 pm, it seems that all the eateries nearby are closed. I had to walk a bit farther to find some food later at night ... although the room service at the hotel (via a local eatery) was perfect the first night I was there.

I've stayed in three different La Quinta hotels (another in Chicago's south suburbs and another in Tenessee) and THIS La Quinta is by far the best ... no competition really. Would definitely stay there again.
