“Great place for rare books”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

I was cite-checking an older law review piece that cited numerous original works from the late 1800s; found them all here with excellent service from the rare books staff.

“Research Gem in the Midwest”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Doing historical research as an undergraduate can be limiting; the cost of travel is often more than undergraduate research grants and awards afford. The Newberry Library is an amazing resource right here in the Midwest! The staff are incredibly friendly, which is a huge plus compared to other libraries. Also, for people who are trying to shove more into their trip to Chicago than just research, the location is excellent AND the parking nearby is soooooooo cheap! I was super excited about how cheap the validated parking was. I didn't take a tour, so I'm not sure what all you get to see on those, but I did see quite a few patrons doing genealogical research. The bottom line is, if you like libraries, want to go somewhere a bit more off the usual tourist path, or want to utilize an amazing research resource in the Midwest, the Newberry Library is for you.
