Pure 1920's glamour. I didn't get a room but I love the lobby lounge where they have tea time 2-4pm daily. Also, order an original recipe brownie - when I say original I mean the first brownie recipe ever, from the 1800s, with an apricot glaze and walnuts. Make sure you see the Tiffany golden Peacock doors too. Here are my pictures: http://trysomethingfun.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-road-less-traveled-chicagos-palmer.html

“Nice dinner while staying at Palmer House”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Currently staying here at Palmer House and decided to stay here for dinner tonight. Lockwood is the main restaurant here, and I had a very nice dinner. Service was great, and it's a very nice quiet place to dine. I was by myself, so did not feel out of place. You can dine at the bar here, and the lobby bar has seating as well. Lobby Bar has a seperate menu that has some light dining options. I had the beat salad which was excellent - nice serving and beets were wonderful. I couldn't decide between the trout and snapper, and my waiter said to go with the snapper. Great choice! It was cooked to perfection with wondrful summer vegetables. They have a wonderful selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. I'd definitely go back here again when staying at Palmer House. Enjoy!

“Very nice atmosphere...good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Situated in Chicago's historical Palmer House hotel, this little gem has a nice menu with such great items as wild salmon. Although not "posh", the venue is modern and comfortable. The staff is friendly and does their work well. Good wine-list for an "off the beaten track" restaurant. Most of the major theaters are within walking distance, making this a great place for pre or post theater dinner.

“Nothing special!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

Given the exception qualify of the product and service from The Palmer House Hilton Hotel, my expectations were set very high. Unfortunately, the restaurant could not live up to those "lofty" ideals. I had the bone in pork loin and my wife the cantaloupe and prosciutto salad. Although the presentation of the porkloin was good, the dish was average. The salad was unremarkable. Rolls were a little hard as well. Service was adequate, but having already eaten a number of restaurants in Chicago already, it did not rise to their levels.

“Expensive and sub-par”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Service was barely OK. The lunch menu is small and pricey. I decided to splurge on a lobster roll, though. Roll was the best descriptor--very little lobster and way too much roll.

The worst part was the lobster shell. I did complain to my waiter, and surprisingly he did not offer me a substitute, and it didn't seem to generate any concern. He disappeared for quite a while and I was so hungry I picked through the lobster to get the rest of the shell out. In the end, I got a whopping 15% discount.

Not worth it to me. I spoke with another guest on an elevator ride and got a similar review from her.
