I stayed here with my boyfriend for a night out in town for his birthday and we were not disappointed. When we first arrived it was about 4:20pm (check in time starts at 4pm) and we were told our room was not quite ready yet and that it may be a little bit of a wait. We were given a couple of warm cookies and sat down for maybe 5-10 mins. When they came to let us know the room was ready we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine for our wait! We didn't even think the wait had been that bad, although found it very generous and needless to say left us with a positive view of the staff.

The room itself was very beautiful and big! We stayed in the junior suite, which had a kitchen area (with dishes/glasses/utensils), a couch with a pull out sofa, two large TVs, a super comfy bed, and really nice bathroom (two person soaker tub and a separate glass shower).

The location of the hotel is great too. It's right next to the el, and not even a block away from the Chicago Theater (where we were heading). Overall a great experience!

Had tickets to Chicago Theater so decided to stay the night downtown. Chose TheWit for its close proximity - right across the street from the Chicago Theater. Got a room with an adjoining door, and could hear the people next to us like they were in our room! Maybe it would have been less noisy if it was full wall. We were right next to the El and could even hear the announcements for the trains. Also had to keep the drapes closed because it was so cold with them open - could feel the cold air coming off the windows. Seems like they could have better insulation. But all in all, would stay here again - if only because it is so close to the Theater. And can't beat the warm cookies at check-in. :)

When reading these reviews there's always a doubt whether it's as good (or as bad) as previous
travellers have said but let me assure you theWit is 100% as good as you've read.

We stayed here for 6 nights beginning of January and were absolutely delighted. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - and cookies were gratefully received as we checked in. Our room was very large (and clean which is most important to me) and as we found out very quiet. When you alight from the lifts there is birdsong softly playing in the hallways which we thought very sweet… and then I think in the evening crickets can be heard!

Each morning we had breakfast in State and Lake (the restaurant on ground floor), excellent food and great staff. If we wanted something that wasn't on the menu they were more than happy to get it fixed for us.

Each evening they did turn-down service and left a little Wit gift in the room - nice touch.

Location is excellent - we came into O'Hare so all we had to do was get the Blue Line all the way to Clarke & Lake station - out the station and two blocks to your left and you're at the hotel.

All in all a fantastic stay.

My family and I have stayed at the WIT on 4 different occasions since it's opening last summer. A bit for business and some for pleasure including our most recent 4 night stay over Christmas. The combination of well designed rooms, comfortable beds, great electronics, etc, make the rooms/suites a great value. The restaurants had something for everyone-including the mother-in-law, and having access to the health club and Spa (for the wife) made for a great stay during what could be a tough time to be in Chicago.

Young or old, if you are looking for a hotel that provides that intimate feeling with all the touches and services of a large hotel but with great service, the WIT is the place. One last item about our recent stay, with two days notice the concierge was able to secure 5 seats in the first 10 rows to the Addams Family play playing down the street at the Ford Theater. Face value!

We decided last minute to go to Chicago last weekend and ended up having a g-r-e-a-t time! First of all, we used Hotwire to pick our location and 4star hotel... and got a great deal on The Wit. Come to find out this hotel is in a fantastic location and is only a few months old. So everything was beautiful and new.

The rooms were large with firm but plush beds, beautiful bathrooms with modern fixtures, the whole hotel had modern funky decor. And a few fun details like in the morning they piped in the sound of birds tweeting in the hallway (almost inaudible, but very quirky and memorable.) And at night if you listen carefully you can hear them piping in the sound of crickets. I'm not joking! The Wit has wit!

The hotel itself has two restaurants and a rooftop bar, Spa, fitness center, and more. The only downside was you had to pay $10/day to hook up to their internet. That's honestly the only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars. Other than that, I loved the location. It's right next to 3 or 4 train lines and multiple places you can grab cheap breakfast before heading out tour the Windy City. Or the Wit has room service which didn't seem too over-priced to me.

We tried to visit the Sears tower but it was cloudy and in the lobby of the Sears tower they warned us that visibility was only a mile so we decided not to pay the $16 ticket price this time. Instead we spent the day taking the Greenline to Oak Park (very quaint town by the way) and toured architect Frank Lloyd Wright's home & studio. Very cool! He also designed many of the surrounding towns so just walk down the street to admire more of his ingenuity.

We went to the Lyric Opera House on Sat. night and loved the decor - because in New England many of the Theatres have ornate, gold decorations lining the walls and ceilings. A very European feel. However, in Chicago everything boomed between late 1800's and early 1900's so its very Art Deco. Including the Opera House - different than what I'm used to but very cool and beautiful. Also, across the street is a restaurant called Lloyds where we grabbed dessert and talked to the bartender to find the best Blues and place to grab pizza the next day.

You must try Giordano's deep dish pizza if you visit Chicago. It's easy to get to via the redline. And you can take the orange line to Kingston Mines blues club - which was amazing!

That about wraps up my weekend in Chicago. I totally plan to return and do some more exploring of the city. And I will totally stay at the Wit again.
