“Snazzy Chicago Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Bell staff was very helpful with my bags. Checking in was pleasant and friendly. My luggage arrived to my room within 15 minutes. Room was somewhat spacious, clean but with a few wear/tear issues, like the comforter was torn in a few places, the door to the safe would not stay closed, hotel was stingy with amenities during my 5 day stay, had to request toilet paper, etc. Bathroom was very nice with a big tub, separate shower and nice sized vanity and modern fixtures. Room service was quick and the food was good, had delicious carrot waffles one morning, prices were reasonable. Connecting to the wifi was annoying, i had to login 2 to 3 times a day, even when i left my device in the room and subscribed to a 5 day service. Good view from room 1518. The location was EXCELLENT! Didn't go up to the roof restaurant, perhaps next time. Tried to get a spa appointment, but it was always booked. Checking out was easy and the bell staff handled baggage storage efficiently. The valet staff were professional and helpful with getting cabs. All in all, a nice stay, i will stay again if the opportunity arises.

Wonderful hotel in every way. Almost makes me not cringe at the rate. As close as a hotel is going to come to being worth $300+ per night. Staff was great. Food at restaurant was great. Wish I could stay there again...and again...and again.

Let me begin by saying my wife and I love this hotel. We've stayed here on numerous occasions and it has become our downtown Chicago destination of choice. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, the shower strong and hot (very important!), the boutique ambiance quirky and appealing, and the staff consistently friendly and accommodating. But you simply HAVE to do something about your automated valet service. More than once I have called for my car to be retrieved from the parking garage, followed the prompts on my room telephone and waited the recommended 15 minutes, only to arrive at the lobby and be told my request had not been received by the valet staff. There is no confirmation, on-screen or otherwise, that one's order has been processed. On Thursday morning (4/25/13) I had to wait an additional 25 minutes cooling my heels in the lobby on top of the 15 minutes I was instructed until my vehicle appeared. Fortunately I was driving to West Michigan that day with no timetable for my arrival. But what if I'd had a job interview that morning, or a major business presentation to deliver? At the exorbitant rate of $50 a night you charge for parking, I don't think getting your car back when you ask for it is too much to expect. A human element has to be inserted into this process at some stage.

We are appreciative of repeat visits from our regional neighbors, and especially gratified that so many experiential features at theWit are recognized and enjoyed. Our team puts much effort into making every experience a positive one. We will, absolutely, follow through on reported automated phone valet parking requests as this system works so effectively- when it works. Obviously there are misses which will be addressed as such reported delays are neither acceptable nor the norm. Thanks for every bit of the detailed feedback.

Sincerely,

YOUR Wit Team

A modern “boutiquey” hotel well located right in the middle of action, with very good public transportation options. Review based on a one night stay in April (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe).

Location:
“L” Stake/Lake station right next to the hotel. Far too many things to do within a walking distance, either in the Loop or just across the river.

Room:
Had a regular room in 19th floor which was quite sizable, certainly enough for a single traveler like me. The décor was modern. Room was very clean, no signs of usage anywhere.

Nice views to State St and “L” tracks with also the river visible. One of those hotel rooms where you don’t need to open the TV, just look out of the window and enjoy the views!

Some noise from the corridor, unsurprisingly more noise from the “L” since it is literally located under the window. Nothing too disturbing though but a light sleeper could have an issue.

A bottle of complimentary water (even two) would be nice, though.

Etc:
Quick & efficient check-in with the signature warm cookie.

The complimentary HHonors breakfast was basically a “To Go” thing with muffins, fruit and coffee. So better than nothing but that’s about it.

Would I return there?
Yeah, why not. A nice hotel in a very good location

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 5 nights in late April 2013 and was not disappointed. The food downstairs, upstairs, room service and for conference functions was excellent. Variety of juices, soft drinks, teas, smoothies etc did not disappoint. Conveniently located just a 5 minute walk away from Millennium Park and and easy 5 minutes or so in the other direction to the Magnificent Mile on North Michigan Ave. In the heart of the theatre area, loads of restaurants and bars for all tastes and budgets with a Walgreens concept store one block away -- liquors and delifoods on floor 1, traditional drug store on floor 2.

The gym was clean and also had a small yoga and stretching room. Treadmills, elipticals and free weights. And the ROOFTop bar is the number one bar in the Midwest at night -- although pricey for drinks -- and one of the Top 3 in the world, allegedly.

Rooms were good but nothing outstanding ... but who cares, it's Chicago, lots of things to do in North America's third largest city.

Service from everyone I encountered was stellar, cabs always available out front and most things like the United Centre, McCormack Place etc just a $15 ride away. Also right at State/Lake loop and subway stations. I would have no hesitation in returning, and most likely will.
