“Quiet Weekday Beach”

Foster Avenue Beach

We spent a few quiet hours on this beach in late September soaking up the warm autumn sun. The beach was clean and restroom facilities were open. The restrooms were cleaner than expected. We were surprised that we only saw a few people the entire time we were there. The landing path for O'Hare went right over head that day. It was really cool to watch all the planes come in while laying on the sand.

This is a wonderful beach with fantastic views of Chicago. Thank goodness Chicago's early leaders saved the Lakefront for all of the people, all of the beaches are free. The Lake is for the people. We have no leaders like that any more.

When I worked up on the north side I use to go to the beach to eat my lunch frequently. It was never crowded and always had parking. It's easy to get to off Lakeshore Drive, just go east off the Foster Ave. Exit. There are showers, bathrooms and it's a nice size beach.

A beach a bit off the radar in terms of beaches in Chicago. A lot of families, and it lacks hordes of people that are at the beach just to be seen. It is a nice beach for the sake of going to the beach and having a fun and relaxing time. Also, there is a great dog beach attached.

Cleaner and less populated than others (North Ave). If you want spring break crowds head to North Ave beach. If you wan fun in the sun with friends then Foster is good.
