Central Loop Hotel

I recently went to Chicago on a business trip and had the pleasure of staying at the Central Loop Hotel, which was only about 2 blocks from the site of my business meeting. First, the hotel is only a few blocks from the Quincy EL station. I rode the train from Midway to Quincy, arriving at almost 1:30 a.m., and felt perfectly safe walking to the hotel. The hotel is small, but nice. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. They also have a central drinking water station on each floor where you can refill the supplied water bottles with cold water, which is very nice. You are only a block from Starbucks, McDonalds and a drugstore, and good restaurants are nearby. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Field Museum.

The Central Loop Hotel is a great little hotel located in a perfect location for a Chicago get away. Within walking distance to Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, Willis Tower, Union Station, and all the CTA lines, you can 't get much better! The rooms might be a bit on the small side but not as tiny as I was expecting based upon the tripadvisor reviews. The entire hotel is very clean and the staff is amazing. Justin at the front desk was so polite and helpful, I just can't say enough nice things about him. Check in is a breeze and the staff are more than willing to help. They offer many free amenities (use of IPads, yoga equiptment and stationary bikes brought to your room among others, free refill purified water stations and bottles). I will definitely stay here again!

I had never heard of this hotel, but it had some good TripAdvisor comments, so I tried it. It's extremely convenient within downtown. It actually has an automated check-in kiosk that works. It almost has the feel of a W Hotel. Rooms are a little small, but perfectly adequate, with coffee maker, good TV and blazing free wireless.

Staying in Chicago for a conference at McCormick Centre. The hotel is quite modest compared to others we visited during our stay, almost like a UK Premier Inn standard. The staff were helpful, hotel clean, bed comfortable. Air con was noisy but efficient. I missed having a safe in the room (think I might have been able to leave valuables at reception but that did not suit me), fridge/ minibar to keep things cool, and a kettle. There is a coffee maker but the water does not get hot enough to make tea. We found a way round this by going to Starbucks next door for drinks every morning. There was unlimited free water to take in bottles from the lift lobby which was very useful. The central loop hotel was in a good location between the conference venue and the sights. Walk along West Adams street towards the park, turn right at the end and jump on a number 3 or 4 bus to McCormick. A 3 day bus / train pass costs 20 dollars (buy at Walgreens on the way), or a taxi trip from the hotel is around 12 dollars each way. We ate in the pub attached to the hotel one night and had the worst meal of our visit. A colleague was disturbed at 2.30am one night and looked through her door peephole to see a lady in short shorts making a "transaction" with a man in the room opposite. We found this unsettling. We would stay here again because of the convenient location, but would want to get it at a discount price as we did this time,

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

Just checked out of the Central Loop Hotel yesterday and I can't say enough good things about this place. Justin at the front desk was more than helpful to keep our bags for us as our flight came in before check-in time, he even arranged for me to get to my bag in storage later as I had forgotten medication in it. We decided to wait to check in after 3 p.m. in order to get a room on a higher floor as I'm a light sleeper, and Justin certainly delivered. The room was well appointed, small but that was no problem for two adults. The location was great, very close to everything. We got caught in the rain one evening, fresh towels were sent up promptly, and we were told about the complimentary washer and dryer on the third floor. Everything was clean, too. We will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor if you're a light sleeper.

We came into Chicago for an extra long weekend, this hotel is in the business district and perfect for staying downtown and was very easy to walk to many attractions (was close enough to walk to the train station). The room yes was small, but it was very clean, modern and perfect for what we needed. We had excellent customer service in Mike and Carlos, and everyone at the front desk was very easy to talk to and went above and beyond for whatever we needed.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a reasonable rate downtown and we would stay here again.

Room and blankets smelled like mildew. Asked for a new blanket -- was promptly and courteously provided one, but the new one smelled like a smoker had last used it and it had not been washed. The bathroom I had was annoyingly laid out with zero counters pace. The shower curtain was worthless... no matter how far away from the curtain I stood or pointed the showerhead, the floor of the bathroom would get completely soaked, thus forcing me to use all the towels everyday to clean up the floor. The pictures are ABSOLUTELY misleading. The complimentary water is actually a self-serve fountain across from the elevator. Empty bottles provided. Yuck. The positives: the people were nice, the wireless was easy to get onto and was fast. Convenient location.
