My colleagues and I were in Chicago for a conference. Wanting to escape from crowds of Michigan Ave, we searched for a bar with these key words: Relaxed Atmosphere, Great Beer, Good Prices. Monk's is that place! Additionally, the following key words could be added: Outstanding Service, Unique Ambiance.

The beer selection is amazing. Prices are very reasonable. The staff is both friendly and helpful. Plus, who doesn't want to drink a beer in a mock Trappist Abbey with 1970's Schlitz lanterns overhead?

We've decided, each year as we attend this conference, we will spend a night a Monk's Pub!

Monk's has an impressive list of beers from around the world. The food is regular pub fare. Better than average burgers and filling appetizers. This is a laid back place to sample some brews and hang with friends.
Wish it was open weekends!

If you're looking for a place off the beaten path in downtown Chicago, check out Monk's Pub at the corner of Lake and Wells near the EL intersection. The atmosphere is great, they have an unlimited number of different beers to taste, and the food is awesome. It will be quiet on the street when you get there, but once you go through the big oak doors to get inside you'll find a cozy and warm place to be (and it's popular with the locals).

This is a perfect place to go and have a beer. Young, old it doesn't matter. This is one-fo-a-kind place. Enjoyed it's uniqueness and all of the various chandeliers.
