“Great hotel, absolutely loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2010

Room was average sized for a business traveler, but big enough for one night and two guests. It was very sumptuous, from the bed to the lighting to the decor. Very luxurious linens on bed. Liked having the Ipod dock. Hotel staff was very helpful, friendly. Location was close to everything you could need for a great night in Chicago. Parking across the street was $23, which was very reasonable.
Didn't eat in restaurant but it appeared very relaxing and inviting. Great atmosphere.
Got a great rate on hotel website and that made it even better. One issue noticed was that once floor in shower got wet, it was very slippery and there was no mat.

This wonderfully remodeled and renovated hotel is only 4 blocks from Michigan Ave. and is in a perfect location. The hotel staff especially Charles, Tim and Julian are fantastic people that care and assist you with all your questions and needs. The hotel is very clean and the housekeeping is outstanding. I was impressed by the linens (USA made), the bath products, and the furnishings. This place is Leeds certified and tries to avoid waste and needless energy consumption with various equipment and ideas. It used to be the old Wacker Hotel and was built in 1926. It went through it's complete remake just last year with new HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, fire systems and interior. The Elate restaurant and bar and the small bar in the lobby are perfect and the meals and happy hour specials are great. The food is chef prepared and the bartendresses are pretty, smart, and professional. Don't be afraid of the ratings complaining of room size, we had no problem with a bit smaller room and it was very cozy. At one time we had 8 of our friends in the room for a few beers and snacks and it was crowded and fun. You will love the fact that Trader Joe's, Whole Earth Foods, Walgreens and other helpful retail is just around the corners. We ate at the Mi Luna cafe in the old Howard Johnson's motor lodge just one block away for great breakfasts and fast lunch. This little cafe is not a looker but it is a classic and the food is classic Chicago.
At The Hotel Felix, the high speed wifi, hi def flat screen tv, free local phone calls, and bottled water are free. There's even a great free coffee bar set up each morning in the lobby. It also has easy access to I90-94 for scooting around the Windy City. I could not find a thing wrong with this place. It's my new "go to" hotel in Chicago from now on...don't change a thing please. This is Chicago downtown at it's best. I love the fact that the entire hotel was "recycled" and saved in such a cool way. Also there is ample surface and garage parking next to the hotel and if you drive a hybird vehicle your valet parking is free for your entire stay.

After flying into Chicago Ohare on our way back to Michigan my husband and I stopped over for one night. From check in to the the room to check out all was smooth and efficient at the Hotel Felix. Our room was small but comfortable. I appreciate the green efforts. I like the modern decor. I would stay at this hotel again.

We booked the Hotel Felix on Hotwire for $104.00 (plus tax). Upon arrival we were a bit confused about parking, but there is a parking lot across from the lobby entrance that I believe was around $30 a day (could be wrong).

As for the room - the rooms are NOT as small as people are making them out to be at all. We found there to be plenty of space. However, if you have a lot of luggage, then it may feel a bit crowded. The rooms are very pleasing to the eye, the bed and bedding were wonderful, and it was very clean. We had a great view but our window was very tiny and in the corner and the outside of the windows clearly had not been cleaned in a while.

As for the bathroom, it was spotless, and I liked the shower (no bathtub). However, I found the super shallow sink to be annoying (could hardly fit my hands under the faucet) but it was tolerable. We did, however, get two towels that once opened, were full of clumps of long, black hair. However, it was obvious the towels had been washed and this was just an oversight when they were folded, and we had plenty more to use. The bathroom was well stocked with q-tips, cotton balls, makeup remover and h2O products.

The hotel was quiet at night, and we found the front desk to be polite. The bartender went way out of her way to aid us in finding good places to go - super helpful and better than any concierge.

We got a great deal on a room at the Hotel Felix over the holidays. Having read a number of reviews ahead of time, we were prepared for the small room size (it was small, but not nearly as claustrophobic as some of the reviews made out). Otherwise, it was a FANTASTIC hotel. Close to everything, painless check-in/check-out, courteous and knowledgeable staff. We're definitely staying here again the next time we head to Chicago.

We stayed 3 days at this boutique hotel off the Magnificient Mile. Rooms are quite small and in fact there is only room for a bed and a small desk with chair. There can be noise from the street traffic that at night can be bothersome. The place was very clean. Free internet in the business centre. Wholefoods close by. Overall a nice place to stay for the price paid and good value (under $100 a night).

Like most of these reviews state..the rooma are VERY small...like really..u do need to sit on the bed and let the other person walk by you...seriously...and the sink..its a dumb design...you really cant get your hands under the faucet...put those two things aside...this Hotel is VERY nice..GREAT location...a few blocks from everything......I would recommend....(paid just $65 plus tax on priceline)....I would also suggest parking across the street for $23 per night rather then the $45 for valet....
