I was a bit hesitant with this hotel after having read some of the not so friendly reviews. We were in town for a wedding and most of the travelers were staying here so we gave it a try.

From the outside, Hotel Felix looks like any other old building in town until you get up for a closer inspection. The artwork outside the front doors provides for an interesting welcome. The hotel provides a Door Man who greets you at the curb, assists with luggage, hails taxis, etc. Very helpful.

Once inside, the hotel displays a beautiful lobby entrance. There was no wait at the front desk and our check in went smooth. Jordan at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful.

There are three elevators so the wait to get upstairs to your room isn't very long at all. Our room was ready and clean. I will say that the room was on the small side but that did not turn out to be an issue.

We had no issues with water pressure, even with the low flow fixtures. The bathroom sink is shallow, but not worth the complaints that other reviewers have posted.

Our room was nicely appointed with modern furnishings and had everything we needed. The carpeting is supposedly made from recycled soda bottles which obviously assisted with the achievement of a LEED Silver rating. Not overly plush but still comfy on our feet. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Wifi was available and worked without any issues.

Complimentary coffee was ready by 6:00AM in the lounge area the next morning. Housekeeping staff were friendly, efficient, and thorough before noon. The front desk staff was helpful in assisting with locating restaurants, excursions, and even a shoe repair (thanks again Jordan). The business center was clean and ready for use in printing our boarding passes. Everything we needed, Hotel Felix provided.

The location is fantastic. Shopping, sights, restaurants, and nightclubs are all within walking distance. We plan to return to this hotel to catch up on lots of sights that we unfortunately didn't see during our 3 night stay.

Room Tip: The rooms with two beds provide considerably more space if you need it. Our single bed room was tight. Also, parking in town is expensive! Save your money on car rentals/parking and do some walking.

If you want clean , simple accommodation with great vibe and location in downtown Chicago, stay at the Felix. The rooms are a little small but the beds are sooooooo comfy and luxurious. The staff was great as well.
Get your divy ride share bike nearby and take a jog down to the lake shore. Be sure to check out Andy's jazz club nearby and there's the India house if you like indian food. Superb!

Very good location. Quiet, almost a neighborhood feeling could walk to all the Michigan Ave. shops and restaurants. Good nearby public transportation. Friendly and helpful staff. The one room service meal I had from adjacent bistro was delicious. Rooms very clean and shower products were to-of-the-line.

Very well located within 10 minutes of downtownattractions.

This hotel is obviously a makeover of an older hotel. Appearance and design are at the core of the hotel refit and for the most part it works.

Our room was small, but not a problem for the two of us. The bathroom is well appointed, with a walk in shower to make up for the small space. The fixtures were chosen as a design statement and it works.

Two queen beds in a room that was probably designed for two twins (Say 80 years ago), resulting in bashing my shins on the bed frame every time I exited the bathroom. The beds though were very comfortable with pillow tops and good quality linens. The safe is a welcome amenity.

Staff are relaxed and competent and the lobby, though small is well designed and welcoming. The playful sculptures at the entrance add to the hotels cachet.

The Bistro attached to the hotel is a bit self-possessed and attempts to show Parisian Bistro cred, but the dinner menu could be better balanced. Very few choices if you have a fish & seafood allergy. Also, with a menu written in French, omitting the accents is kind of wrong. Very good breakfast, though, and good service.

Did not have the time to use the spa. All in all very good. I would recommend the hotel as a great spot for a short trip to Chicago.

Hello John S, thank you for your review! We did indeed undergo renovations and we have preserved as much of the former space, "Hotel Wacker", as possible. These efforts contributed to our achievement of earning LEED Silver certification. Thanks also for giving Loren, Madeline and Scrappy (our sustainable sculptures that live outside the front entrance) a shout out! We thank you again and hope to see you again soon.

We loved the location but, at night, it sounded like we were sleeping with the windows open. We could hear everything on the street and every ding of the elevator bell. But the doormen were great and helpful and LM restaurant was nice. I thought the gym was a bit sparse but it did have 3 treadmills and 2 elipticals and a few weights. I'd stay there again if I got another good group rate (we were there for a wedding).
