Excellent on arrival service, gorgeous suite with magnificent views. close proximity to high end shopping -- perfect for business or pleasure.

The front desk staff did their utmost to ensure that I knew where to go how to get there etc. having arrived from NYC to cold climate in Chicago I was in a great spot to run out and buy some warmer clothes. They couldn't have been more helpful and charming.

Then on to the suite which was spectacular 180 degree views of the city and the water, absolutely gorgeous.

Room Tip: Junior suite on higher floors are excellent value for the product

The most disappointing visit to any Four Seasons we can recall.
A warm welcome from the doorman and a swift checking were the only high points.
The room decor was tired and bland, badly in need of refreshment.
The room needed a thorough cleaning, crumbs in carpet, smears of food on room service menu and a remote so disgusting we bypassed plans to watch a movie.
Room service was very slow and the bagel was stale.
For some reason, they felt it necessary to send a message confirming that we had declined turn down service. The message arrived in the middle of the night, with a flashing light on the phone which woke us.
There was no guest survey in the room and at checkout no one asked how my stay was. The doorman was having a long chat with a departing guest and I was left on my own to hail a cab at departure.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I have been staying at The Four Seasons Chicago for many years. Each visit is a reminder of just how wonderful this special hotel is. The hotel has recently finished a complete make over that has greatly improved what was already a terrific property. he lobby area has been completely updated in a contemporary yet rich manner. The dining room and lounge has also been redone with a warm inviting atmosphere and delicious menu. The entire staff is truly caring and goes out of their way to delight the guests. From the minute you step onto the curbside front door to the time you get to your luxurious room, every staff encounter is met with a smile, genuine greeting and desire to help. The spa services are first class as well. I have stayed in the best hotels all over the world and The Four Seasons Chicago is my absolute favorite. I provide the highest recommendation.

Room Tip: The rooms facing Michigan avenue offer the best views of the city and lake Michigan.

We've stayed often at the Peninsula and the Ritz-Carleton, but this was our first stay at the Four Seasons. We now have a third wonderful option in Chicago, and future choices will probably be a function of availability and cost. From beginning to end, FSC was pretty much what we expected, and we expected a lot. Our suite was, I think, on the 45th floor and looked south onto Michigan Ave. The view was spectacular--both night and day. The room was nicely appointed, clean, and quite. (A little more quiet than a comparable suite at the Pen--since further from the street.) We ate four means at Allium--dinner, breakfasts, and brunch. (We are staying with our daughter and my wife's mother next week at the Ritz, and have reservations for a dinner and brunch at Allium. That's how much we liked it.) The lobby is beautiful and almost overstocked with excellent, and interesting artworks. The hotel is nicely located near Oak Street and a couple of other favorite restaurants. The concierge was very helpful, and the turndown service was rendered by very pleasant, confident woman. We've booked a stay at a FS in another city in August, and our expectations are, now, even higher. FSC is a wonderful place.

Room Tip: Suites looking south over Michigan Ave might be with an few extra dollars.

College girlfriends recently stayed at the Four Seasons for our 50th birthdays. The property is outstanding in every way, with beautiful amenities and luxurious elements to give customers a feeling like none other.

From the curb staff to the concierge and everyone in between, the hospitality could not have been better. My spa treatments by Aneta were wonderful. The entire spa team was excellent. A birthday cake and champagne were a special surprise from the hotel. It was brought by a very hospitable staff member named Christian. His smile was infectious, and his warmth and demeanor were a continued sign of the excellence provided by each person at Four Seasons. Although the hotel was full, it was not apparent to us, who were given the special time and attention necessary to make us feel like we were the only ones in the hotel. Thank you again!

The Four Seasons Chicago is not resting on its laurels. It is apparent that they take very seriously their commitment to customer service. I believe they truly strive to make every guest's stay outshine that guest's expectations. The location is excellent for shopping and for strolling - be sure to walk a few blocks north and cross over to the promenade along the lake. I especially recommend, as have others, the corner executive lake view suites, which offer sweeping views of the lake and the city and a sense of serenity (three large windows). A view like that makes ordering room service well worth it! The hotel is expensive, but often has deals for weekend or extended stays, and I believe offers good value given its location, 6-star service, and fantastic views. Any downsides? Only minor ones. The shower is a little small if you are a tall or wide person, but it is not uncomfortable. And the TV remotes (at least the ones in my room) were a bit old (or old batteries?) and took multiple button pressing attempts to get the channel to change. Probably could have been fixed with one phone call...but I just took the better option to not watch TV :)

Room Tip: Ask for a corner executive suite, and pay for lake view.

My husband and I stayed at Four Seasons at the end of May, 2013 and we were amazed by the thoughtful and attentive staff members. We booked our room via the American Express Fine Hotels and Resort program, and was upgraded to a lake-view executive suite. The room was spacious.

I was greeted immediately upon arrival and to avoid guests from waiting, the director immediately took me to a new counter for check in and proceed to escort us to the elevator while giving a summary of all the amenities and features the hotel had to offer. I also appreciate the fact that they didn't just have an audio recording for wake up calls as they made the effort to have a receptionist call and greet you by your name with updated weather reports. It's the attentiveness to detail and excellence in customer service that would make me select Four Seasons again for my future travels.
