“Perfect location and great service”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for a father/son trip. We had a blast. The hotel couldn't have been in a better location. Our suite was located on a top floor so the view was amazing to say the least. The staff was very friendly and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to people who want nothing less than what you would expect from a Four Seasons Hotel.

The room was immaculate and comfortable with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan and the city of Chicago. It was The BEST night's sleep I've had in a long time - the bed was amazingly comfortable! The bathroom was large with the softest bathrobes and oversized towels.
Everyone on the staff was extremely pleasant; the concierges (Karen and Heather) gave us excellent recommendations and were a wealth of information.
The location couldn't have been any better - steps from Michigan Avenue with the best shopping. Just take the elevator down a few floors to Bloomingdales and a myriad of shops! You don't even have to go outside!
Check-in and check-out was quick with no problems. The front desk staff was great - always ready with a smile every time you walked in.
The lemonade and cookies in the lobby every afternoon was a nice touch, and enjoyed the cozy bar in the evenings, the perfect way to relax after a full day of shopping/sightseeing!
The spa was great with the most relaxing massages....
I would recommend this hotel to everyone - a great experience if you want the finest!

As are most Four Seasons Hotels, the one in Chicago is first class. It is located at the north end of Michigan Avenue, practically across the street from the John Hancock Center and the Water Tower. It is atop a shopping center containing a Bloomingdales and a handful of smaller stores and restaurants. Its location along the Magnificent Mile places it within an easy stroll of nearly anything you could possibly want to eat, drink, or buy, as well as some of the more popular tourist sites in Chicago. You can catch sightseeing buses right across the street at the Water Tower. Areas such as Millennium Park, the Art Institute, Sears Tower, etc., are walkable (my wife and I walked there), but certainly farther afield. The hotel itself is spectacular, from the beautiful and elegant lobby to the magnificent views from the upper floors. From our suite we could see all the way from downtown to O'Hare airport. Valet parking is available and the staff is extremely pleasant, but it is not cheap, and the hotel's location makes the valet parking area congested and at times a bit frantic. You may feel like you are on pit road at a race track. I saw self-parking was available only after I checked in and noticed it on one of the hotel elevator buttons -- it is part of the parking area for the shopping mall. I give the hotel four rather than five stars because each night we were there the bed had no top sheet -- only the bottom sheet and the comforter -- and because the bed was surprisingly uncomfortable. I actually tried to sleep on the sofa in the sitting room mid-way through the first night because the bed was so uncomfortable. My wife and I were able to adjust the way the mattress was seated on the frame rails and get back to sleep, but still was an irritant at 3 a.m. All in all, though, definitely one of our favorite hotels in Chicago, and my wife makes a point of a special weekend there at least once a year.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view of Lake Michigan.

We stay at FS properties frequently -- i.e. just returned from a stay in Geneva (one of our favorite FS btw). This was our first visit to the Chicago property -- a "staycation" as we are from Chicago. It is a nice hotel with many of the features you come to expect with FS properties. We stayed in a suite with a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan. Would recommend this property to those who are sight seeing in Chicago as it has an unbeatable location. Probably would have given it five stars if we didn't frequent FS. The service while friendly, seemed slower than their peers --perhaps they were understaffed on a busy holiday weekend, but typically we don't have to call for turn down service, wait an extended period of time for room service/ retrieve car etc. It didn't ruin the stay, but it was noticeable.

The rooms are open and airy with AMAZING views of the city and Michigan Ave. Fantastic large bathroom, super clean, great staff at the lobby bar (which I recommend going to even if you are not staying there.) The spa staff are extremely helpful as well.

Room Tip: You want a room on the Southeast corner - BEST VIEWS

We stayed at the Four Seasons in August for a family wedding. Our child was not invited so we wanted to give her something special. The hotel is so child friendly. When we arrived she had a stepstool, her own child shampoos etc, her own robe and stuffed animal. Games to play and coloring book. Every night they would leave treats such as cupcake, milk and cookies, gummies and more. The entire hotel and staff go out of their way to get to know you and make you feel comfortable. We loved the hotel, pool, room, staff. You can also take out dvd from front desk to view in your room. Oh if you stay with kids get the reading butler. someone from the staff comes with choices of books to read to your kids and talks to them. Makes them feel so special.

Room Tip: we were on 42nd floor with a great view of the lake. the rooms have window seats so if you like to s...
