“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

Decor came across as drab, cold/impersonal, despite some of it being quite stunning when looked at more closely. The anteroom in particular was utilitarian and it took a while to figure out which glass to go through. Great beds, cozy robes, nice bathroom. Too bad the shower leaked terribly (major overflow onto floor and carpet first night; after that we turned the shower head). Paying $10 per day to use the gym/pool - What's that about? Flags were at half-mast and nobody from management bothered to tell the doorman the reason. As always, staff at the lowest level were doing a good job. Host staff (ie checkin) were perky and pleasant too, but I didn't get a sense that it was okay to as questions. Maybe it was just me out of my element - or maybe it was because of the decor. The concierge at checkout was much more engaged and as well as pleasant seemed to be making a real effort to provide every assistance possible. Also in its favour: cleanliness. My husband almost always wakes up stuffy. Here his sinuses were magically clear. That is wonderful and astonishing.

This hotel is beautiful. The location is wonderful, with a short walk to both Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile. Also right on the lake very near the Navy Pier.
The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Beds are extremely comfortable. The elevators are fairly efficient with the key card required in the lobby to select your floor. Although I haven't been at the hotel at a high time (ie summer) the elevator situation would hopefully allow for guests to be able to get to their rooms or the lobby without waiting forever for a packed elevator to arrive.
It may not be the a low cost option, but you really can't beat the location for a stay in downtown Chicago.

My husband and I stayed here on a mid-week getaway! We did book through a third party and got a great rate, and an a free upgrade for a lake view room! They did give us a room by the elevators and one was very squeaky, but the room made up for it. The bed was insanely comfortable, the shower was amazing, and the view was incredible!!!! At night we could see the pier in all its glory, and the sunrise over the pier was amazingly beautiful. The only downside is, the do charge for everything, WiFi, use of the pool, and room service is CRAZY expensive (where isn't it though). Over all a great trip!!!

Room Tip: If you can get a lake view, get it. The view is great!!!!

This is an extraordinary Hotel! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I will be returning. My wife and I had a great time. Try the Purple Pig for lunch, it is just a short walk away. Great pool and fitness area.

Arrived by driver from Airport on Thursday, 5/2/13 and they had no reservation in my name.
Trip was prepaid through Jet Blue Getaways! Called JetBlue and there was no mistake on
their end, so off we go to the game. My husband and son had shorts on and sweatshirts. It
was windy and chilly and they were unable to change in our room, because we had not
been able to check in! So went to the Cub's game... Get back to the hotel and our bags were still being held and they found our reservation and we went to the room. It only had 1 king bed, so we had to call down and get the room with 2 beds instead. It was my family of 4. They finally got it right, and offered us 4 free drink tickets, and use of the gym for our trouble! Wish the beds were queens! Onsite restaurant too expensive! Next time will stay where there are bigger beds, and for go the suite style room. Great location! Wildberry's for Breakfast!

Room Tip: Were on the 36th floor, great view, suite with two bathrooms.

SO I was at a meeting recently held at this hotel. It really is a nice hotel. Nice view, really nice staff, great location, but other than that it just wasn't that special for the price. Everything was just really overpriced. The cocktails were good, but again, overpriced. I bought some advil at their little kiosk and the little travel tube was more than 7 dollars. Now I know its going to be pricier, but still, 7 buck is ridiculous.

But like I said, nice staff, very clean, but that is really it for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Swissotel. The view from my room was amazing and the staff friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent for seeing all the attractions that Chicago has to offer. My son was married at The East Bank Club and everything was wonderful. Highly recommend staying at this hotel. Very clean and the gym facilities were beyond what I expected.
