Pros:
Nice comfortable beds. The room was spotless. The view of Navy Pier was awesome. We went to our room and the fan in the A/C started making a horrible noise. The people next door even started knocking on the wall. I called the front desk and they sent a maintenance man, (I wish I could remember his name) he showed up in less than 10 minutes and he said the fan would have to be replaced. He told us we would have to change rooms. He got our room changed, with a better view, brought us the keys and offered to help us take our luggage to the other room. He was awesome. We told the people next door what the problem was and they were cool about it. I did make sure the A/C was turned off as not to bother them. The girl at the front dest was very friendly when we checked in. It was really hot in Chicago, July 4th weekend and they had ice water dispensers and cups in the lobby for no charge.(that's all that was free)

Cons:
They placed an invoice under the door that we were being charged for a bottle of Vodka, $38.00. That was weird since no one in our group (we had 2 rooms) drinks alcohol. I went to the front desk and they removed it. They said it is based on weight and if we had moved anything in the refrigerator or placed anything inside of it, you can be charged. That was resolved with no problems. The curtains don't keep out much light.
They charge $15.00 per day, per person to use the pool. That's highway robbery. They charge for internet service $9.95 per day. Parking $48.00 per day.How can you enjoy your stay when you get charged just for breathing? If economy motels can offer internet service for no charge, so can 4 star hotels. If your wanting to be close to all the action on Michigan Ave, this hotel isn't for you.

Overall the stay was good. It was quiet at night compared to the hotels around Michigan Ave. The hotels around Michigan Ave are by the hospital and you'll be kept up all night with sirens blaring. I grade 4 start hotels down when they charge for what economy motels give individuals for free.

Stayed a week at this hotel and found the staff to be helpful and the rooms are quite large and clean.

Room service was relatively prompt and hygienic.

I would stay here again because it's location makes it easy to access restaurants and tourist sites both north and south of the river.

Also there's a convenient UPS center located at the basement, but they will still charge for just holding items delivered to you, even if you're a guest at the hotel.

The gym was also well-equipped and well-maintained.

Stay was in March 2011.

We stayed 1 night after using an online bidding website (so we didn't exactly choose the hotel). First impression was bad - girl at front desk was outside on her phone, so we waited a good 5 mins for check in (it was after midnight). She did upgrade us to a suite, which was nice. Beautiful room with 2 bathrooms, great bed, high floor so nice and quiet...until the yappy do down the hall started barking in the morning. I had no reason to ask if I was a pet- friendly hotel, but couldn't they all go on one floor so the rest of us don't have to hear? Otherwise a nice hotel - just too noisy for us.

Short visit for our anniversary. Very friendly and competent staff. Reasonable price for upgrade with fantastic view of lake and Navy Pier. Nice surprise of champagne and chocolate covered strawbs when we returned from day out walking thru this beautiful city. Strongly recommend Millenium Park with the amazing Bean, Ghery designed Pritzker Pavillion, Crown Fountain, and adjacent gardens. All great for fun and people watching. Don't miss the Chicago Cultural Center across the street...outstanding architecture, stained glass and mosaics, and art exhibits... and all free.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are a bit pricier, but provide views of the city and Navy Pier and the lake.

Stayed here again for July Holiday weekend. Everything was wonderful from the front desk staff to the Concierge. Stayed in a corner suite with views of the Lake and the River with Navy Pier in the middle. Room was spacious and exceptionally clean.

We stayed here in July, 2011 for 3 nights.

The location is great. It is right downtown, near the lake, the river, the mag mile, navey pier etc. We were able to walk just about everywhere we went.

The views can be stunning depending on where the room is located within the hotel.

The bed was so comfortable and the room was clean and fairly spacious. Decorated much like a business hotel.

The only drawbacks are things that can be completely be avoided if you are aware of them ahead of time. The gym and pool costs money to use. It costs money if you want the internet in your room. The food is OUTRAGEOUSLY Priced. We received a free voucher for 2 for breakfast (buffett). The meal was so-so at best. The bill came and it was $57... or I should say would have been $57 if we did not have the voucher. Basically do not order any food or roomservice unless you want to pay through the nose. We read about this in advance so it was no surprise to us and we simply ate out, or ordered in.

All in all this is a good place to stay so long as you're aware of the pros and cons before you book.
