Nice comfortable beds. The room was spotless. The view of Navy Pier was awesome. We went to our room and the fan in the A/C started making a horrible noise. The people next door even started knocking on the wall. I called the front desk and they sent a maintenance man, (I wish I could remember his name) he showed up in less than 10 minutes and he said the fan would have to be replaced. He told us we would have to change rooms. He got our room changed, with a better view, brought us the keys and offered to help us take our luggage to the other room. He was awesome. We told the people next door what the problem was and they were cool about it. I did make sure the A/C was turned off as not to bother them. The girl at the front dest was very friendly when we checked in. It was really hot in Chicago, July 4th weekend and they had ice water dispensers and cups in the lobby for no charge.(that's all that was free)
They placed an invoice under the door that we were being charged for a bottle of Vodka, $38.00. That was weird since no one in our group (we had 2 rooms) drinks alcohol. I went to the front desk and they removed it. They said it is based on weight and if we had moved anything in the refrigerator or placed anything inside of it, you can be charged. That was resolved with no problems. The curtains don't keep out much light.
They charge $15.00 per day, per person to use the pool. That's highway robbery. They charge for internet service $9.95 per day. Parking $48.00 per day.How can you enjoy your stay when you get charged just for breathing? If economy motels can offer internet service for no charge, so can 4 star hotels. If your wanting to be close to all the action on Michigan Ave, this hotel isn't for you.
Overall the stay was good. It was quiet at night compared to the hotels around Michigan Ave. The hotels around Michigan Ave are by the hospital and you'll be kept up all night with sirens blaring. I grade 4 start hotels down when they charge for what economy motels give individuals for free.
