“Go up for the view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

what a wonderful hotel as a great price! Go through the Chicago tourism websites and get a double at $129/night. The room is lovely, huge bathroom with separate shower. Separate toilet room. Bathrobes and extra blankets. Great service in the business center. 1/2 hour free computer access and free printing of boarding passes. The business center staff are wonderful: very helpful. Concierge - no question too dumb. Doormen and other front line staff - so polite and helpful. I was in Chicago on business and the Fairmont staff helped me squeeze in some leisure activities, too. Go up for the view. Room 2405 was great with the view south over the water. The only reason I did not give this Hotel the top rating - no coffee pot in the room which I find a bit short-sighted. Overall - I plan to stay here again and again while in Chicago - 3 blocks of Michigan and 5 blocks from the Art Institute and Pritzker Library.

We arrived early at around 11:00 am. The check in desk said check in is at 3 pm. I said if you get something early let us know, so I gave her my cell phone. My husband had a meeting to attend and I went to the gym and had lunch and came back at 1:30. I went back to the desk and she was rather rude and said did you get a call. I said no as I was busy and came back when I was done. As I waited more I was noticing people checking in and getting there room. She saw me standing near by and watching, I then got my call and said the room was ready. People we knew that were staying there got there room at 1:00 no problem. Our room was on the 32nd floor with a view of a parking lot and apartments next door. Not the best.
Other than check in our stay was great. The hotel was very pleasant. I ate lunch and breakfast in the resturant and it was very good. I used the gym several days and everyone was very nice in the spa. Housekeeping came at 4:30 one day and we had been out all day and came back at 4:30, so we did not get the room cleaned that day. When it was cleaned it was done very well. The hotel is near shopping on Michigan Ave. withing walking distance.
Very nice Hotel.

This is a great downtown location. Close to theater district, art institute, lakefront, river, shopping, Grant park , Millenium Park , etc. Price was competitive to other nice hotels. We walked almost everywhere we went. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was old and worn out, the carpet was not even tacked down in some spots, there was very little storage, there was a safe in the middle of the closet making hanging clothing difficult. There was no coffee pot or ipod dock. The cleanliness was 'iffy'. When housekeeping came the second day, they took the shampoo and didn't replace it, did not put in more toilet paper (even when one roll was empty), did not leave clean glasses, etc. Towels and robes were hard. There was not a waste can by the desk. Just too many details that were overlooked for this to be a star four rated hotel. Very disappointing.

Location, location, location. The Fairmont Chicago has that and more. The staff is very helpful, the property well maintained. My room was roomy and clean with a nice view of the skyline. Be advised that the lower price internet service is very slow, but that is a small issue in comparison to all the positives.

good location. not excelent. very close to michigan ave. and close to all shopping areas
easy access.
very good service, had breakfast at concierge level. very good.
parking for vehicle is $58 per day. very expensive and the wait for the car is 15 min or more.
we had a junior suite. very confortable and clean. big with an adjoninig living room
good house keeping service

Room Tip: get the junior suite. it is worth the difference

I was recently at the hotel for a conference. It's a pretty good location in downtown Chicago.
I stayed on the 36th floor, so had some spectacular views from the room. I had a king size bed and a couch that spanned the length of the window, which was pretty long. Bathroom was good, a little cozy, but has everything that is needed and the fact they have a 'make-up' area just outside the bathroom helped that out a little. It would be tight for 2 people getting ready at the same time. The bed was comfy, the room was a good size and the TV was great. It has all the hookups, so i actually plugged my laptop into the TV and used it as a display, it automatically adjusts to the size of the screen and everything. Great hotel. I'd recommend in a heartbeat and try to stay there again next time I am in Chicago. Fantastic staff, who were very helpful and polite. Seems like they enjoy their job and it shows. The bar at the front of the hotel was also good. Especially if you like Sushi (which I don't!).

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor, for a good view!
