good location. not excelent. very close to michigan ave. and close to all shopping areas
easy access.
very good service, had breakfast at concierge level. very good.
parking for vehicle is $58 per day. very expensive and the wait for the car is 15 min or more.
we had a junior suite. very confortable and clean. big with an adjoninig living room
good house keeping service

Room Tip: get the junior suite. it is worth the difference

I was recently at the hotel for a conference. It's a pretty good location in downtown Chicago.
I stayed on the 36th floor, so had some spectacular views from the room. I had a king size bed and a couch that spanned the length of the window, which was pretty long. Bathroom was good, a little cozy, but has everything that is needed and the fact they have a 'make-up' area just outside the bathroom helped that out a little. It would be tight for 2 people getting ready at the same time. The bed was comfy, the room was a good size and the TV was great. It has all the hookups, so i actually plugged my laptop into the TV and used it as a display, it automatically adjusts to the size of the screen and everything. Great hotel. I'd recommend in a heartbeat and try to stay there again next time I am in Chicago. Fantastic staff, who were very helpful and polite. Seems like they enjoy their job and it shows. The bar at the front of the hotel was also good. Especially if you like Sushi (which I don't!).

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor, for a good view!

We spent 4 nights at the Fairmont recently (stayed an extra few nights thanks to Hurricane Sandy) and had a very good experience there. The room was nice, as expected, but what we loved was the gorgeous view of Lake Michigan.

The service at the hotel was top notch. The concierge booked us on the architecture tour (highly recommended) so we didn't need to call the tour company directly or wait in line. Everyone in the staff were very accommodating and friendly. They even extended our stay at the same rate without any hassles.

What would have made this a 5 star review? The WiFi was spotty and slow (when it worked). Even though it was free (for President's club members) it was not reliable. Also, there was no easy way to adjust how the water flowed out of the shower head. Picky, I know...but the small things make a difference.

I love the location of this hotel, very nice and walkable to michigan ave. Stayed here on my last night in Chicago. Not bad for the price and the room was pretty big and the beds were very comfy. Overall, a good place to stay downtown.

So my husband and I stayed here for a long 4 day weekend at the end of October...and we paid over $600 for the 3 nights, so we expected this place to be fairly nice for that price. First of all, upon check in, the clerk behind the desk made the comment (and this is a direct quote): "we'll take your money..." as we were checking in...mind you...we didn't even have room keys yet!
Then, we get to our room and before we even entered it, there were crowbar marks on the door...THAT was reassuring! (NOT!) Then we get into the room and the bathroom doors wouldn't shut (there were 2 of them...a pocket door that separated the toilet, and the main bathroom door...neither would close all the way...). The bathtub had no drain plug (thankfully I wasn't planning on using the tub anyways...it was just a place we threw all our used towels). The table and end tables in the room all had cigarette burns and stains all over them. Oh, and the room had a funky smoky smell (though it was supposedly a nonsmoking room). And lastly, the minibar had also been pried open with a crowbar. The maid service was unimpressive: the second day, we got no soap, shampoo, or conditioner...just a single bottle of lotion (when we checked in, we had 2 mini soaps, shampoo, lotion, and conditioner....the second day, apparently they didn't feel we needed to clean ourselves...just slather lotion on...LOL!) They also scrimped on towels the 2nd day...we were given 2 for the both of us to share (previous day we had 4 towels), we were left 1 handtowel (previous day we had 3), and 1 washcloth (the previous day we had 4)... then they tried to overcharge $20 on the valet parking...
In all honesty, the only redeeming quality of this hotel was that it was located across the street from a CVS pharmacy, which was convenient. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS HOLE! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU'RE PAYING THAT MUCH TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO!

Room Tip: There are no good rooms here from what I could tell...

I generally stay at the Radisson Blue across the street from the Fairmont and couldn't get in. I was excited to try the Fairmont but must say I found it extremely disappointing. The room was a nice size but nothing else came close to the competition across the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-connecting room. I thought the man in the room next door was going to join me in my ro...

I love staying at Fairmont hotels, because I know that I'm going to be staying at a quality hotel that values service, comfort, and a bit of style. The Fairmont Chicago doesn't disappoint. The city views are an added bonus.
