Description: If it seems like HUB 51 is a continual party, that's just what creators R.J. and Jerrod Melman want. Their dad, Lettuce founder Rich Melman, always told them that the restaurant business should be fun, and, as Jerrod now interprets that advice, "We want to be as playful as possible, and have a good time with our customers and the people we work with." "Our goal for the menu was to create food we like to eat," says R.J. They loaded it up with sushi, tacos, sandwiches and burgers. Great salads and appetizers like the arugula Caesar and Pulled Chicken Nachos appeal to the bar crowd, while the filet mignon steak tacos and the charred sake salmon serve notice that HUB 51 is providing both a great time and wonderful food. With dozens of beers, wines and sakes, HUB 51 is all about what you like. SUB 51, a private lounge below the restaurant, becomes an exclusive nightclub on weekends, while space in the main restaurant is also available for private parties and semi-private events.

This is a large bar/resto built into a downtown Chicago block. When I arrived late on a Thursday evening, it was ramped up and bumping. The bar was being heavily used and clearly enjoyed. The resto part was only slightly less hectic. Grilled fish tacos were great - and they had Blue Moon on tap.. nice evening. Hope to get back when I have a bit more time.

On the recommendation of our hotel's front desk, four of us dined at Hub 51 on a cool mid-May evening in Chicago. The desk clerk had made a reservation for us, so we were able to stroll lazily to dinner and enjoy the sights of Downtown Chicago as we went. We were seated immediately and among us, we ordered sushi, Chilean sea bass, pulled chicken nachos, wedge salad, and more. The food arrived promptly, the quality was excellent, and the quantity fully satisfied our collective hunger. We highly recommend Hub 51.

What a great hopping little spot! Sat on the patio on a Sunday night. Enjoyed chips, guac and several Tall Gingers. This is in a great location, and bustling with action. I would definitely return and try some other menu items.

Went here on a Thursday night and had to wait over an hour for a table. The food was definitely worth the wait. I had a really great Cabernet Sauvignon as we waited for our food. They have a special gluten free menu, which is the reason why we went here for dinner in the first place. I split the chicken nachos and the fish tacos with a friend and the food was delicious. The nachos were huge and we were only able to eat half. The bottom chips were soggy by the time I got to them, but they were still tasty smothered in cheese. Would go here again when visiting Chicago, but may check it out on a less busy night.

The first glance of the menu will make you think "does this place have an identity crisis or what?" A little Mexican. Sushi. Pork shoulder. Burgers.
It's not that they are trying to be everything to everyone - they are actually REALLY good at all of it!
The sushi was terrific. Fresh. Crisp. Seasoned right. Delicious.
The service was outstanding. Friendly. Interested. Well versed in the menu. Knew the seasonal beers by heart not by reading a list (and one had changed that day).
Great beer selection too.
I would come here again and again.
