Stacks up well versus Four Seasons and Waldorf hotels in Chicago. Perfect location, stunning lobby, great new outdoor patio/bar, immaculate rooms. Excellent service as you would expect. Very upscale clientele. Thought the breakfast was very mediocre though.

My significant other and I both lived in Chicago for years so when we visit, we pretty much know where we want to stay, eat, etc. When staying downtown, the Ritz Carlton is our primary choice (we also like the sister property, The Four Seasons, located essentially across the street). The hotel is very well located just off North Michigan Ave., is clean, quiet, and the service is excellent. Can't think of staying anywhere else. As an aside, we loved their pillows and when we got home, contacted the hotel and arranged to purchase some for our home. We received them within a week! These folks really try to please!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a small suite so that is what I would recommend. The suite had two full baths which is...

My room overlooked the Hancock Tower and Lake Michigan- it was close enough to all the action but I heard NO outside noise...if you frequent Chicago, you know there is a fire truck around every three minutes :) I traveled on business and got a very good rate at this hotel- I can only hope that rate lasts through the summer months as I travel back. Fabulous stay!

The centralized location of the Ritz in Chicago is only the beginning of its appeal. This hotel is only 2 blocks from the Navy Pier, right off the lake, and a block off the Magnificent Mile. Now let's go inside. Beautiful, traditional décor and absolutely wonderful staff. We were greeted by Scott at the front desk and he was great, so personable. The bar area was relaxing and their band exceptional. The room was traditionally decorated, very relaxing and every whim was attended to. Mostly, however, the room was QUIET, the bed exceptionally comfortable and the pillows like laying your head on a cloud. What a wonderful night's rest. Our only complaint was figuring out the shower. Not exactly intuitive- once we got it figured out; however, it was quite relaxing. If you're traveling to Chicago and your plans revolve around the Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile area, this hotel is the place to be. Every penny spent well worth it. By the way, tip the valet well, they do such a fabulous job.

Unlike many hotels in this town it provides, high class service and attention to detail. Lovely suite upgrade thru Four Seasons overlooking water tower, Contemp museum. Nice but crowded gym in mornings. Excellent casual ding choices....refreshing in a 5 star.

Room Tip: Go for he suites if staying awhile

I stayed at the hotel overnight with my two granddaughter (ages 5 and 3) as their parents worked hard setting up their new house in the suburbs. From the moment we entered the hotel until the time we left, the girls were showered with treats- beginning with stuffed animals from a welcome wagon, to delectable treats on entering our room, to child friendly shampoos and conditioners(chocolate and mango flavored), to luxurious terry cloth robes for our trip to the pool and hot tub, to our very own candy cart at our door! Every step of the way, we had impeccable service, friendly faces, and outstanding accommodations! A true 5 star experience!

Very luxurious and excellent service. The concierges went out of their way to help make our trip successful, providing excellent advice and accurate information. The lobby has a great fountain, lovely lounges for meeting friends for coffee or a drink, and the twelfth floor terrace for drinks has great views. A good location for sightseeing, next to a stop on the open-top bus route. Our room was very comfortable and well-appointed. A bit expensive, but worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms with view overlooking the lake have a great view, includes some tall buildings and lots of int...
