I attended a two day conference at The Palmer House. It is a grand hotel in the old tradition. It is almost like stepping back in time. You can tell the difference the moment you walk in. Check-in was effortless. Room was large by today’s standards and it was well maintained. Room was comfortable and quiet. The challenge was the bathroom. It had to be the smallest hotel bathroom and that includes my travels overseas. Fortunately I was travelling solo. It would have been impossible for two people to be in the bathroom at the same time. The only other negative were the elevators, which are divided up by floors. I was on the 15th floor and that bank of elevators seemed dramatically slower than the other banks. Waits were sometimes significant. Overall, a nice place to stay in downtown Chicago. I will certainly return.

Hello MVTeacher

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and we thank you for sharing your review and providing valuable feedback. We will look into the four elevators that service the 15 floor to ensure that there are no maintenance issues. I’m sure that whatever caused the delays was minor and will be rectified immediately. Thank you again and we will patiently await your next visit.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and it was brilliant. The lobby, restaurant and bar is exquisite and the whole building is beautiful. The staff are very helpful and forthcoming. We asked at the concierge for recommendations for dinner and are grateful for their great advice. We stayed on an executive floor, which we would recommend as that included access to the private lounge/bar/food area. We went there for breakfast, and plenty of snacks and drinks between 5-7pm. We stayed here to celebrate a silver wedding anniversary and a graduation from high school. We were pleasantly surprised to find chocolates and fizz in our bedroom! We loved our stay here and didn't want to leave! We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the executive floors have access to the lounge

The Palmer House in Chicago is a very good hotel and the staff is wonderful. They helped us to have the best time we could and provided us with excellent service. The employees at the concierge desk helped us each day with many questions and never tired or frowned while helping us. We were treated with care at all times. Shah was the best!

This hotel is in a perfect location and walking distance to everything. Train to Midway Airport is right by the hotel. The Art Institute is right around the corner, good everywhere. Make sure you buy a transit pass valid for a few days. t came in handy for transportation on train or buy bus. The hotel has an eating option in which you get breakfast and dinner in the evening. I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: When you check in they will tell you abort the executive floors and for $50 more a day you will be breakfast and dinner.

Stayed here for a long weekend for a family wedding. The historic building is gorgeous, especially the lobby. Lots of attention to detail in the art deco designed rooms. The only thing I missed was a coffee maker in the room.
