Nice hotel and good location.

The Pool was small and very busy but the fitness room was very good with a lot of options.

The hotel is very big. Breakfast option at the hotel but there are plenty of options for food outside the hotel also

Recently stayed at the Palmer House, our room was large (had 2 bathrooms which we requested), but the beds are so small only doubles....if you are a family sharing a room you probably will not get a good sleep in a small bed.

Hotel was clean, lobby great. Unless you have a coupon do not waste money on the breakfast in the hotel restaurant, very mediocre food and service.

Great location if you are taking train from airport.

Just got back from an overnight stay in Chicago. My sister and I were going to see a musical, explore the Art Institute, take the Shoreline Architectural Boat Tour, and see the Cirque Shanghai: Warriors show at Navy Pier. The Palmer House was a perfect location. We walked to the hotel from Union Station. Tried to check in early but was told there would be a $25 fee so we had our luggage stored instead and came back after 3pm to check in. While waiting in line to check in, a representative from the Lockwood restaurant gave us both coupons to use at the restaurant. The desk clerk that checked us in was pleasant and accommodating. We each got a complimentary apple and bottle of water from the desk clerk. I had requested a room in a quiet area and on an upper floor. We got that; however, because of the "L" location, we did hear a bit of the rumble while in the the room (17th floor, Rm 119; view of ugly rooftops). The room itself was clean and neat. There were two comfortable beds, a desk & chair, a flat screen TV with beaucoup channels, a refrigerator, a safe in the closet, and plenty of drawer space. The bathroom was TINY but clean and water pressure was good. Magnifying mirror was attached to the wall next to the sink. Breakfast was included with our package. We had the buffet in the Lockwood restaurant. Our server, Andrew, was fab, timely in his service, and very professional. All of the bell men we came in contact with were extremely helpful. Even the cleaning ladies we passed in the hallway gave a friendly smile and 'good morning.' All in all a pleasant experience. If the bathroom had been larger and we could have checked in before 3 pm without an additional charge, I would have given the place 5 stars. That being said, I would definitely return to the Palmer House.

This hotel is gorgeous! The lobby is one of the most beautiful lobbies I have ever seen. It's quaint and historic. The location is great. We walked to Cloud Gate (the Bean) and the Art Institute. Many restaurants are nearby and catching a cab is easy.

The rooms were small but very "cute."

The bar here had one of the best cheese plates I have ever had. I've looked for the fennel gouda numerous times since and cannot find it anywhere.

I'd definitely look to stay here when I return to Chicago!

The Palmer House must have been amazing in its heyday. Because it is fantastic now. The building facade is a bit dated but the interior more than makes up for it. The staff were amazing and the location is unbeatable.

We stayed at the Palmer House for three nights. We were knocked out by the lobby décor and atmosphere and loved the very central and convenient location - we could easily walk to the river, the Art Institute, theatre and shopping and were around the corner from the "El" for easy access to transit. Yes, the rooms are smallish and we found housekeeping less than attentive, but we spend so little time in the room . . . and sitting in that lobby more than made up for it!

This hotel sits right in the center of things, and is near the train (loop) if you need to go further in town. The lake, shops, bean, parks, fountains, great restaurants are all within a short walk. The staff was exceptional and the rooms were great. I plan to stay there again when in Chicago.

Room Tip: Be kind when checking in and you might get an upgrade :-)
