First hotel on our Route 66 trip, a free upgrade thanks to our holiday company mucking up a booking at another hotel. This is in a great location and the lobby is huge, a nice place to be with a good bar. My room on the 21st Floor was looking a bit dated and the electrical socket was half hanging out of the wall. As you would expect for a Hilton the food was expensive, so we ate out. Overall a nice hotel which could do with a bit of refreshment.

The comfort of the room and bed was excellent, although it was hit and miss whether the TV would work. Bathroom is a tight squeeze with very little counter space. The layout, especially of the conference areas is like the Winchester mystery house. Wayfinding is difficult, even with the human guides the hotel posts to help keep you on the right path.

This historic hotel has been updated nicely. However, the rooms are very small, the views are not good, and the service is average at best. I realize that I do not have high status with Hilton Honors, but my room was no bigger than my closet at home.

The staff was not overly helpful, and the elevators are very dated and slow.

I would recommend the Renaissance in downtown Chicago. It is generally less expensive and an all around better experience.

We are staying during a conference so the cost is about $300 a nite. Parking was $62 even though a sign said $54 and we were not tomd about the self parking option which was much cheaper OR the the gitness center was $10 per use. yhe positives: The location is within walking distance to all but one City Pass attraction. We walked to Navy Pier as well. The concierge was awesome with giving good tips about which sites to see.

However, when we arrived, the floor in front of the bathroom was wet. Later, we found out why...the toilet overflowed. So we were walking on toilet water. We put towels down and they turned a nasty color. From that point on the bathroom smelled like mildew. There was hair (not ours) all over the bathroom even after the room was cleaned! The beds were fine and the room size was small but sufficient. Next time we'll pay better attention to the room amenities ---no microwave or fridge...must haves when you have children and are staying multiple days!

This hotel was not what we expected for the money!

We got married in downtown Chicago on June 8, and we got a block of rooms at The Palmer House for our guests. They upgraded us to a 1 King 1 Bedroom Suite for the same rate as our guests rooms and WHOA. This room was massive -- 2 bedrooms, a huge dining/living/bar area, and a totally separate bedroom. It was the perfect place to spend our weekend and the suite was excellent for getting ready for the wedding. And it goes without saying that the whole place is gorgeous. Oh, and there's a spa on-site called Balance Spa. Be sure to hit it up! They're great.
Cons:
- the non-suite rooms were a bit small
- it's freaking impossible to find your way around the halls of that place! The numbering makes no sense, you have to take certain elevators to certain floors and can't get to all floors from others (we were on 13 and most of our guests were on 10 and to get to each other's rooms, we had to go all the way down to the lobby, get on a different elevator, and go back up)
- the service at Lockwood Restaurant is terrible. Just plan on not eating there.

Overall, I would love to stay there again. Yes, parking is expensive but that's to be expected downtown. And the parking garage is super convenient, which is nice.

Stayed at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. It's a very old & historic hotel located in the heart of downtown. The lobby is massive with huge fresco ceilings...reminds one of an Italian palace.
The hotel is gorgeous, the staff is very professional, and the location ideal. The rooms are on the small side but as I didn't spend alot of time in my room, I was okay with that. The hotel is within walking distance to good restaurants, the train, the Art Institute, etc. Saw the Book of Mormon play which was just down the street.

Yes, the room is a little small. But the location and hotel itself made up for it. There are a few great restaurants close enough to walk to. And a cab ride will take you to the great attractions like Shedd Aquarium in the area. Worth a stay, even just to the lobby. Beautiful hotel, we would definitely stay here again.
